Great hotel in Sliema , Malta
Great hotel in excellent location , buses opposite and ferry terminal for Valleta and all sea trips approx 10 mins walk away . Staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfast choice great and morning staff very friendly and chatty . Hotel is on long promenade so great for early morning run along to St Julian’s Bay or evening stroll . Lots of cafes and restaurants close by and great choice of food options . Little rooftop pool which was great for dip at the end of day . Sometimes loungers were all taken but plenty of seating area and areas close by if wanted day of sunbathing. Safe beach 10 mins away for sea swim. Rooms very clean and had side room with sea view which got afternoon sun which was lovely . Balcony not big enough to sit on but nice to be able to have breeze blowing in . Would highly recommend this and hope to return soon .

The staff were very helpful and incredibly friendly. We stayed in the penthouse, and the only things we felt were missing were a parasol and a way to dim or turn off the lights in the evening. The breakfast was excellent, though sometimes the plate was cleared away before we’d even finished the last bite, which felt a bit rushed. I can highly recommend this place!

More like 3 than 4 stars
Hotel well located in Sliema and close to all amenities.
Aging infrastructure, corresponds more to 3 than 4 stars.
The hotel is functional but needs renovation. Clean rooms, decent bedding.
Smell of dampness/sewage near the bar/reception and in the breakfast restaurant.
The breakfast restaurant is in the basement, underground; it smells strongly of dampness and has no exterior windows - needs renovation. A large cockroach surprised us on the floor during our meal.
However, the breakfast buffet is good, very well-stocked and varied every day.
The breakfast staff is attentive, however at the front desk they are not very friendly.

Great location, would definitely recommend
We had a fantastic stay at the Diplomat Hotel and would definitely return.
The room was spotless and comfortable, the location is excellent right on the seafront in the heart of Sliema, and the breakfast was delicious with plenty of choice every morning.
The highlight of our stay was the wonderful staff, especially the breakfast team and the housekeeping staff. Everyone was so friendly, welcoming, and helpful, and nothing was ever too much trouble.
One feature that really stood out was the courtesy changing room with showers and fresh towels available on our last day. As we had a late evening flight, it meant we could enjoy a full day by the sea before returning to shower and change before heading to the airport. It was such a thoughtful touch and far better than we’ve experienced at many other hotels.
Overall, a lovely hotel with excellent service, a fantastic location, and great facilities. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend it.
