A beautiful gem

We recently stayed at Number 7 Boutique Hotel in Galway’s Latin Quarter, and from the moment we arrived, we felt completely at home.
We were warmly welcomed by Alex, who was incredibly kind, attentive, and genuinely lovely. She personally showed us to our room and immediately put us at ease with her friendly, easygoing manner. She was so conversational and thoughtful, even sharing that she was heading to a concert later — it just made the whole experience feel relaxed and personal rather than formal.
We also had the pleasure of meeting her mum, Hazel, and she was just as wonderful. Nothing was too much trouble. Our checkout time was 12pm, but as our bus wasn’t until 1:45, Hazel kindly insisted we take our time and stay longer since the room was free. That level of generosity and flexibility really meant a lot.
Breakfast was another highlight. It was continental, but with such an impressive variety of fresh, natural produce. There were yogurts, gluten-free options, fresh fruits, salads, pastries, bagels — truly something for everyone. Everything was thoughtfully prepared and beautifully presented.
Yes, the rooms are on the smaller side, but what they may lack in size, they more than make up for in comfort, charm, and warmth. It’s a stunning little hotel with a true home-away-from-home feel.
This is a family-run gem in the heart of Galway, and it absolutely shines because of the people behind it. A huge shoutout to Alex and Hazel — you should be so proud. What a beautiful hotel and an unforgettable stay. Louise x

Excellent service, in the heart of the city

Hotel is in a great location in the heart of the city, easy access to local pubs and restaurants. The beds were comfy and rooms were kept cleanly. A big thank you to Marcelli for her amazing hosting, friendliness and helpfulness. She really improved our trip!

Memorable ... but Quirky

Yes, this hotel is ancient (over 400 years old) as pointed out in a quaint book available at the breakfast table. You'll be warned in an email before check in that there is no elevator and that it can be noisy. The soundproof windows that can be locked down do a good job but it helps if you enjoy the sound of people having a good time enjoying the musical venues at street level. The winding staircase (38 steps in all) takes you past rooms named for explorers, authors, and fictional characters from the Knights of the Round Table. The rooms are tiny with less space on one side of the bed to even leave your slippers. In place of a closet there are pegs on the wall to hold your clothing. Some bathrooms do not have a window but the one that did (our party had 3 rooms total) smelled very musty, even after leaving the window open to air things out.
Breakfasts were delightful with breads and cereal, yogurt, fruit, meats and cheeses. The staff were multi-lingual and very gracious.

Location brilliant everything thing else disappointing, i feel its over priced.

The location of the hotel is brilliant right in the heart of everything I guess thats why the price was high.
If your unfit like myself do not book this hotel the stairs are awful 6 flights to our room,I understand it says the rooms are small but basically a bed thats it not even a bottle of water in the room.
The bathroom had the most horrendous smell coming in from I can only guess outside pipes or something thankfully we were checking out the morning that started.
Breakfast was continental basic, no cooked options, top tip BTW use apple cider vinegar and washing liquid mixed in hot water to get rid of the fruit flies all over the bread or just move the fruit.
We didn't mind the noise as we partied to later the first night second night chilled but the music played to around 4.30am I could still hear music in the distance
Then you have the street cleaners and bottle collection which sounds crazy the amount of bottles haha

Buyer’s remorse , unfortunately

Two reasons why I left disappointed:
1) the noise! Deafening all night as the bars below are blaring loud music. The ear plugs are no match for the street noise and blaring bar music.
2) the room size! Ridiculously small. No dresser, no table, no chair, no closet, no amenities, no coffee, no NOTHING. Just a small bedroom with a bed and a tiny standup shower.
I’m not saying staff aren’t helpful because they are very kind, but honestly this place should be $100/night given its limitations. It just left me feeling I should have paid double what I paid and stayed somewhere where I could actually relax!
