You'll be glad you stayed at the Black Walnut B&B!
My husband and I have been to the Black Walnut Bed and Breakfast twice now, and both times it was amazing! The house is charming, and the breakfasts are so good we talk about them for months after. The owner is a genius in the kitchen! And she personalizes suggestions for you and your time in the area with care and consideration that is truly special. The Blue Moon room is sweet and very comfortable and spacious; the yard behind the house also provides a gorgeous garden for enjoying a bit of nature after breakfast. Charming, restful, and delicious. We enjoyed our stays there tremendously, and you will too!

Our 6th wonderful visit to the Black Walnut B & B in Covert, NY!
2026 update! This was our 6th visit to the Black Walnut, and once again, Jen was a superb hostess and chef! Jen (and her cat Rufio) are very welcoming, and we feel very much at home at the Black Walnut.
We always stay in the Owasco Room, with a private bath - it is always immaculately set up, the bed is comfortable, and we really enjoy a good night's sleep there. Jen also had a new walkway installed this year to the front door, which makes it much easier to come in with your bags - you can roll them if they have that capability.
Jen's breakfasts are the best that we have had at any B & B - deliciously prepared, very inventive, beautifully presented, and always considerate of our gluten-free dietary needs.
In addition to Jen's great suggestions on wineries, distilleries and craft brew places to visit and places at which to eat dinner, her sun porch is the perfect place to hang out with our friends for coffee before breakfast in the mornings, and to unwind with our wine at the end of the day.
There are great places to hike like the Glen at Watkins Glen and Cascadilla Gorge Trail in Ithaca. This year, Jen made the great suggestion of hiking the North Rim Trail at Taughannock Falls State Park, which brought us to the Upper Falls which we had never seen before! Thank you, Jen!
I highly recommend the Black Walnut for your stay in the Finger Lakes - it is very convenient to Cayuga, Seneca and Keuka Lakes, as well as Ithaca, Seneca Falls, Watkins Glen and Geneva. Lots to do and see in this area, and Jen and Black Walnut are perfect as your home base while in the area!

Amazing host and location
Wonderful stay at this B&B. We stayed in the Blue Moon Suite and it was very spacious and comfortable and also located on the opposite side of the house away from the other rooms.
Jen is an amazing host! She is a great cook and made us a beautiful and tasty breakfast each morning. The portion is generous and will definitely get you through the morning and fueled up for the nice hiking in the area. She has the best recommendations of things to do in the area and happily prepared a personalized itinerary for each day of our stay.
The location is very convenient for exploring the wineries and hiking around Cayuga and Seneca lakes. Also an easy drive to Ithaca and Watkins Glen.
It should be noted that the inn is located on a corner and due to it being a 200 year old home, the traffic noise can be heard inside the room. It would not however keep us from staying here again

Nice B&B with great host at the Finger Lakes
Our daughter bought a place close to here and we needed a place to stay while visiting (actually helping with renovations) her. We found the Black Walnut and was pleasantly surprised. We talked to the host Jen before booking it to make sure that we could check in late. We thought we might be as late as 2AM for arrival. She said that she would make it work for us. Luckily we arrived at 11 PM, so it was not as late as we thought. While we spoke to her she was very helpful. She asked if either of us had allergies, so she could plan breakfasts to meet our needs. Not sure she was ready for my wife's list of allergies (Gluten, Dairy, Strawberries, Blueberries, Ginger and she is a Pescatarian) but she didn't even flinch. She served fantastic breakfasts all 4 mornings of our stay.
The room was nice with a farmhouse appeal. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean and well appointed. This is an older house, so floors are squeaky and not level, but is part of the charm of an older house. None of this bothered us at all, Jen (the host) did a great job making sure we had everything we needed. She even offered to lend us any tools we needed while working on daughters place. She is the best B&B host we have encountered.

Fantastic weekend with friends and a wonderful host!
We have an annual girls weekend in the Finger Lakes regions. Our host was extremely knowledge, the rooms were extremely comfortable and breakfast was absolutely delicious. Jen accommodated our trip as were a bit late in the season. Thank you so much Jen! We will see you soon!
