Beautiful place to stay.

Absolutely lovely hotel. Staff couldn’t be more helpful. I travelled for business reasons but will definitely be coming back with my hubby. Good lovely room spotless. Shower brilliant.

Slackness.

Unfortunately, 20 minutes for 2 coffees table service. Barman “totally forgot”. Not busy at all. Not good enough at all. Management need to grip that.

Nice food but miserable waitress

Having eaten here many times it’s one of our go to places for a Saturday lunchtime sandwich . The food as usual was very tasty well presented etc. however the lady that was taking the food orders on Saturday lunchtime was rather unpleasant - not a smile to be seen and corrected one of our party who mispronounced the name of the lager ! Was that really necessary quite an unpleasant atmosphere due to her manner. Then I had the audacity to ask for the tip to be removed that is automatically added to the bill, no conversation just a blank expression from her - we all have bad days but we were there for my daughters birthday celebration, will we return ? Not sure tbh

Won’t be back

Having stayed here on a number of occasions were very disappointed with the food. Three of us chose beef Sunday lunch. Asked for medium to well done but only given option of pink or well done. Chose well done and beef arrived thinly sliced and shrivelled. No way was this freshly cooked roast beef, more like out of a freezer. We were compensated by the hotel but our evening meal was ruined.

Thank you for your feedback, We were disappointed to read your comments particularly as we did everything possible to address your concerns and provided compensation at the time.
Having looked at your previous reviews its a shame that you have only found the time to comment on your negative experience and not a more balanced review of the multiple good experiences you have had with us which has brought you back to the hotel.
Regarding the roast beef, a traditional beef joint is not cooked the same way as a individual steak and it is not possible to offer it served in multiple ways. It has always been served this way since we took over in 2018.
We are sorry that the meal did not meet your expectations but we stand by the quality and freshness of our food. If you would like to discuss with me further please reach out on 01325 332255.

Relaxing

An excellent stay at The Devonport. Room was beautiful and spacious, food was exceptional, and the staff were really helpful. It was lovely to relax on the sun drenched terrace with a few drinks. Lovely location also to go for walks.
