Holmbush House

Nestled in 3 acres of charming gardens, grade II listed Holmbush House enjoys views of the beautiful South Downs. Spacious double and twin rooms at this bed and breakfast boast antique beds and furniture, whilst the Upper Suite takes over the entire width of the property. Featuring a flat-screen TV, tea and coffee, and free WiFi, each room also has an en suite bathroom. Full English, vegetarian and continental breakfast options are served in the Holmbush’s large, traditional dining room. For evening dining, a range of pubs and restaurants can be found a short drive away. Holmbush House also features an electric car charging station with 13 amp sockets, where guests can charge their vehicle free of charge. Eastbourne and the beaches of the south coast are 12 miles away. The peaceful area surrounding this Georgian property is perfect for walking, or guests can relax by the ponds in the lovely garden. Access to Holmbush House is via the entrance to Wellshurst Golf Club on the A267; guests will then see the double gates to the property about 100 metres ahead of them. Please note that children under 12 years are not permitted at the Holmbush House. Please be aware this property does not accept credit cards and so payment is by cash or bank transfer solely. Delightful house and delightful hosts

We spent a couple of nights at Holmbush House just before New Year, attending a family wedding nearby. Hosts Carole & Robert were welcoming and helpful throughout. The rooms were very comfortable and the breakfasts varied and nourishing !
The property is in a pleasant country setting with ample parking.

a four day stay at this wonderful house was a lovely experience

Upon arrival we were stunned by the lovely environment and site of Holmbush House. A house with great history as well, and now one of British monuments. The room was very cosy and most of the furniture was antique but in very good state. Very clean and neat, the bed was of great quality as well.
Bathroom very clean as well and well equipped.
Breakfast served to our own wishes and all the food was well cooked and fresh!! The breakfast room has a lovely fireplace, im sure it will be very cosy during fall and wintertime.
The owners made a great efford to make our stay very comfortable and told ous a lot about the history of the house. We both do advise other people to visit Holmbush House for short or longer stay, im sure one won't regret it .
The house is adjacent to the Well Hurst Golfcourse, very friendly people there, and quite a nice course as well. 20 pounds for 18 holes is real good value for the money.

Weekend with Friends

We were attending a Tribute singer dinner / dance at Wellshurst Golf Club and as Holmbush House is on the doorstep we thought that we would try it out. We were not disappointed, it is a lovely place and we and our friends were looked after admirably by Carole and Rob, the owners. The breakfast was superb and especially with all of the home made jams etc.

Lovely and relaxing stay in this luxurious setting.

My husband and I stayed here for four nights in the beginning of June. It exceeded our expectations for peace, charm, wonderful huge room, and very hospitable hosts. We sat in the garden in the evening watching the sun go down over the South Downs Way over a glass of wine. Very relaxing indeed. A pub offering great food is only five minutes drive away - or ten minutes on a bike! Highly recommended.

A delightful few days at Holmbush House

We have not long returned from a stay at Holmbush House. We found it to be very relaxing which is just what was required. It was lovely to walk round the grounds or just sit and admire the view. We had the twin room which was very spacious and light. The bathroom was superb with a beautiful bath and a separate shower. The handmade mattresses - well we have never slept in such a comfortable bed and we slept like logs. Carole was extremely nice and helpful and indeed booked our meal the first evening at a local public house - The Gun - which was excellent. All in all we had the most delightful stay at Holmbush House and would certainly recommend it to friends. We hope to stay again in the future.
