A lovely Christmas stay in the heart of KK
Location & Atmosphere (5/5)
The location is unbeatable. Being right in the heart of the city made it so easy to explore and get into the holiday spirit. The atmosphere throughout the hotel was fantastic—perfectly capturing that Christmas cheer without feeling overwhelming. We had a genuinely lovely time just soaking in the energy of the hotel and the city surroundings.
Amenities & Value (5/5)
The amenities here are top-tier. A huge highlight for us was the Club Lounge; it was truly impeccable. It’s such a relaxing space, and the service there elevated our whole stay. Likewise, the breakfast at Tanjung Ria Kitchen was amazing. The spread was massive and delicious, making for the perfect start to our days. When you consider the quality of the food and the lounge experience, the value for money feels spot on.
Rooms, Cleanliness, Noise, & Service (4/5)
The rooms were comfortable and well-maintained. If I had to point out one thing, the view from our specific room was a bit mediocre, but it honestly didn't dampen our stay since we were out and about or enjoying the lounge so much. The hotel was kept clean, the noise levels were well-managed, and the service was friendly and efficient. The team made us feel very welcome, though there’s always that little bit of room for perfection.
Overall, we had a fantastic Christmas holiday here. It’s a solid choice for anyone visiting Kota Kinabalu, and we’d definitely consider staying again. Thanks for a wonderful trip!

Good location and good view from room
I find the living area near the reception desk not welcoming. Not enough sofa for guests to sit. The one available is drab and insufficient seats

Great trip to KK
Hyatt Regency Kinabalu is very well located property. Older hotel but very well maintained common areas (restaurants and pool) and pool. Rooms are huge! That is usually a case for older properties vs new modern shoe box rooms
But I came here to write about staff! Absolutely wonderful… from the moment you arrive - lobby staff greeted me with a warm smile. Checking with Laurence was great! As a Hyatt loyalist, welcomed with a frut platter …
But the highlight of my stay was Regency Club staff! Namilah with her beautiful smile and always willing to answer questions. Mrs Emily greeting me by a first name on our first encounter and lovely smile every time we saw each other afterwards.
Aiman with his warm and caring attitude always checking if everything is ok.
As a solo female traveler, it is very appreciated when hotel staff makes you feel ‚at home’.
