10 stars, definitely not just 3 stars!
It deserves a long trip even in 40-degree heat! After crossing Italy to reach Palmanova for a conference, we stayed at this jewel of a hotel. Beautiful, new, clean, with abundant friendliness, and a super breakfast... we slept in a very comfortable bed with air conditioning just right for this extremely hot summer.
What can I say, it truly deserves 10 stars.

Never again at this hotel.
We had booked a superior room several weeks in advance; by "superior," one expects better, or else the hotel needs to revise its criteria or its vocabulary. We received an email 2 days before our arrival welcoming us to a room re-specified as Superior.
Upon our arrival, the young woman at the front desk, who was very kind, seemed quite embarrassed. Indeed, she informed us that our room, booked well in advance, was no longer available; the person who had occupied it the night before wanted to extend their stay by one night, so our room was rented out.
The manager then came over, without apologizing for not honoring our reservation, and told us the hotel was full, with only 2 rooms left, one of which she didn't want to show us because it was, according to her, really too tiny (sic!), and the other one still available on the 1st floor should suit us. So we went to see this famous room, still labeled "Superior" since that was our request. This one, located on the 1st floor, was tiny, stifling, and had a window looking directly out onto a wall as its only view.
In fact, they only had 2 tiny rooms left. We refused that room, and there we were, arguing about where to spend our night.
The manager told us she would do us a "favor" by offering us (well, for 125 euros, anyway) a 3-bed room that was a little more spacious. We had no choice if we didn't want to spend the night outside after a long trip. This room we were assigned was on the ground floor, looked out onto a tiny, ugly, neglected inner courtyard, supposedly met the superior criteria, and had windows covered with an opaque white film that completely obstructed the window, so we ended up in a windowless room with over 30°C outside, unable to open the window. An oppressive room, with no outside view, totally closed off; being a bit claustrophobic, the night was difficult.
How can you describe a hotelier who doesn't honor reservations? Whether a guest wants to stay an extra night is not our concern; it's up to the hotelier to manage their reservations, and the guest shouldn't have to pay the price for it.
This hotel is well-located for visiting the city of Palmanova, but it is an old building; apart from the rooms in the annex, which are more pleasant, the rooms located in the main building have no view, as they look out onto tiny courtyards or narrow passageways. Claustrophobics should stay away.
Contrary to what is indicated on the site, there are no individual toiletries that you find everywhere in Italy; for the price of the rooms, there are only soap dispensers and no mini-bar drinks are complimentary, not even a bottle of water.
In addition, the breakfast was really very average, the cold cuts were not good,
the setting is quite pretty but the person who takes care of the breakfasts is not very "warm" in their welcome.
There is no shortage of hotels in Italy, so we have forgotten this one and we will not return.
