Beautiful birch hotel

A beautifully restored property. The room in an outbuilding was very spacious and stylishly furnished. Large rooftop terrace.
The meals (buffet in the evening) and breakfast were excellent.
The surroundings are rather dull, but this is about the hotel review.
The only point of criticism: the plastic curtain around the antique bathtub: Does not close properly, and thus the floor ends up quite wet afterwards. A shower cabin might be less extravagant, but definitely better.

Absolute great experience - the old buildings have been carefully renovated and is a wonderful mix of local and Asian historical art. We were lucky to run into the owner, Mr Kühne, whilst walking the grounds in the evening, amazing family history of 300 years custodianship of the buildings. The main tower is over 1000 years old. A rare gem.
A plus is to see the regional watchtowers that was part of the larger castle setup in the 1400 hundreds.

Nicely restored castle building with flaws

Stayed here in the warm month of June. Certainly an interesting address in this area. Nicely renovated, but still a construction site in some parts. Room rustic, unfortunately without air conditioning. Ventilating is dangerous due to many mosquitoes. No minibar. Shower-tub combo. Quiet location. Park next door, a few walking paths. Restaurant with outdoor area, buffet in the evening. This leads to a downgrade: The buffet is not refrigerated! Carpaccio, salmon, salads without a cooling plate. In the morning at breakfast, the cold cuts already smell very strong. The salmon also sits there without cooling. That is simply not acceptable from a hygiene standpoint. Staff was asked about it: unfortunately we only have large cooling plates. Well then, why aren't new ones being purchased? Do you want to poison your guests? If that is changed and the rooms are air-conditioned for the summer, then it can be recommended again.

No longer what it once was

One of our previous favorite places that we have stayed at several times. After several hours in the car we were really looking forward to a good dinner, especially since we were very satisfied with previous stays. Unfortunately, the experience did not live up to our expectations this time. The food, which used to be great, now consisted of a small buffet without any great finesse.
The room was pretty much okay, but the cobwebs here and there gave a sloppy impression.
The staff was very friendly and helpful. It was difficult to understand them, and they took little account of the fact that we do not speak fluent German.
Overall disappointing, and unfortunately this will be the last time we stay here.

Very different from all the 5* chains I visit for business. I missed a cofee/tea maker and mini bar, especially considering, Sunday bar closed and no no other options close by.
