Beautifully located on the Black Sea Coast in Balchik, the Lighthouse Golf Resort & Spa Hotel is part of a golf resort which was designed by the famous player Ian Woosnam. The hotel, overlooking one of the most beautiful sceneries in the region, features sea views and it is close to the club house, the golf academy and the road leading to sandy beaches. The Lighthouse Hotel offers luxurious rooms, suites and penthouses, some of which offer private pools. They all feature modern equipment, air conditioning and a balcony. The 12th, 13th and 14th greens are in the immediate surroundings of the hotel, making it possible for all guests to watch the game as there are panoramic views from the hotel at the golf course. Enjoy the full range of possibilities the resort has to offer – combine your business meetings with a golf course or join a golf game and unwind in the 9843 ft² spa afterwards. Guests can benefit from sports and leisure facilities on site, including two tennis courts and a football field. Several different restaurants and bars are offered on site and guests can enjoy variety of cuisines ranging from local, international, Italian & Mediterranean. The use of the spa facilities including a Finnish sauna, a Turkish bath, a hot tub and a fitness center are available free of charge for the hotel guests, as well as heated indoor pool with mineral water and outdoor pool. Guests can also book at the reception an umbrella and sunbeds for free usage, subject to availability.

Review of Lighthouse Golf & Spa as an All-Inclusive Golf Break
Firstly some scene setting , it's my partners 50th this year and my son is 12. This golf break was part of my partners 50th birthday celebrations. We all play and this was their first experience of an overseas 5 star All-inclusive golf break. I have done several over the years with friends in all the usual locations (Portugal, Spain, Turkey etc) so had a level of expectation. Now the review bit.....
Good.
The staff were friendly and helpful. For example, on arrival there was an issue with the room and after raising it with reception we were relocated to another within an hour. The reception staff were always ready to help and the restaurant staff were friendly and quick. The pool area was clean, well maintained and the pool itself was lovely and warm.
Bad.
The "All inclusive", as mentioned I've done 5* AIl Inc. golf breaks before and had a level of expectation. I expected some beer & spirits to not be included, that's fine and dandy, what I didn't expect was to find that food at the pool side Greek style taverna and the golf course clubhouse were not included. Possibly this is mentioned somewhere in the hotel literature but it should be made clear at time of booking. Other places I have been the All-inclusive is exactly that.
The hotel itself is looking quite tired and some of the exterior could do with painting / repairing. Most notably around the entrance to swimming pool area. I was also quite surprised when one evening, as we walked past the restaurant, which was closed, and saw a mouse squeezing under the door. I assume this must have been either Stuart Little or Ratatouille.

The Lighthouse golf course was in excellent condition and the clubhouse staff were friendly and helpful. Shiv's bar by the green of the 8th is a perfect photo opportunity with amazing views. As an aside I'd also highly recommend booking to play the Black Sea Rama course as well.
Overall we enjoyed ourselves and our first experience of Bulgaria, however I would say the hotel is more a 3 star possibly a 4 at a push rather than a 5 and if you are intending on going bear in mind the "all inclusive" banner may not be what you are expecting when compared to other 5 star all-inclusive resorts.

We are also glad that when you raised an issue with your initial room, our reception team was able to respond promptly and relocate you within an hour. Thank you as well for your excellent 5/5 rating for service and for highlighting the condition of Lighthouse Golf Course, our Clubhouse team and the spectacular setting of Shiv’s Sky Bar.
We would, however, like to clarify an important point regarding our All Inclusive concept. The Greek Restaurant and the Clubhouse are part of our Dine Around programme, subject to the conditions of the booked package; they are not simply excluded from the All Inclusive experience. Our programme combines the main buffet restaurant with additional dining and beverage benefits across the resort, rather than offering unrestricted consumption at every outlet. As All Inclusive concepts vary considerably between hotels and destinations, we appreciate your suggestion that the Dine Around arrangements could have been explained more clearly during the booking process.
We also acknowledge your comments regarding the appearance of certain areas of the property. Lighthouse is an established resort, and maintenance, renovation and improvement works are carried out continuously across the hotel and its extensive facilities.
Regarding the isolated wildlife sighting mentioned in your review, Lighthouse is situated in the heart of an extensive golf resort, surrounded by open fields and natural landscape, where occasional encounters with local wildlife can naturally occur. Nevertheless, the hotel follows a regular professional pest-control and prevention programme, and any such observation is taken seriously and addressed accordingly.
Ultimately, we are very pleased that you and your family enjoyed your first visit to Bulgaria and that our golf course, team and resort surroundings contributed positively to your birthday celebrations.
