Worst hotel overpriced.

Terrible, terrible, terrible! Filthy floors in bedroom, extremely low water pressure that you can barely use to brush your teeth, water is only like warm without pressure when using the shower, noisy night life does not allow you to rest, early morning bar fights can be heard because the windows are not soundproof, breakfast is super limited because most ingredients are not available (they had no milk or cold meats because their order had not arrived). It’s close to the airport but not worth it!!!! We stayed at a hotel in downtown La Paz for about 17 dollars less which was clean, well equipped and great customer service. I believe most of the reviews posted on Google are fake.

Why not no stars?

Near airport but not worth it. Spend 10 dollars please to travel farther. Hotel is not in a safe neighborhood. They have 2-3 bodyguards outside!! All night disco that does not let you sleep. Hotel is poorly managed and not clean. staff is nice but does not speak English. They do not take credit card so you need cash plus $20 deposits. some plugs does not work. Dead bolt does not lock. Solo female should stay away from this hotel.
Most of the reviews are from local visitors to disco so beware of it.

Horrible Hotel

We stayed here as a stopover while flying through la Paz. The hotel was in an awful area, there is a noisy all night disco that you can hear through the whole hotel and worst of all the sheets were smelly and stained. There was also a problem with the drain in the bathroom floor, when the sink was turned on smelly water came up through the floor.
Do not book this hotel!

DON'T DO IT

taxi driver repeatedly told me that this was a very dangerous area and to avoid this party hotel. travelling on my own as a female here was scary.
first of all, disco THROUGHOUT THE NIGHT, it is not going to end until 6 am so dont bother. room shakes with the vibrations from the music.
secondly, this seems to be a hotel that people use to bring people back from the disco. not pleasant.
if you don't speak any spanish don't expect to be able to book and pay for a room here, they speak no english.
i felt unsafe and unhappy here. when I ordered a taxi from the hotel, two of the men in reception asked to share the taxi with me, and the reception supported. Being a female on my own i politely refused but felt extremely uncomfortable to be put in this position.

Avoid - do not stay at this hotel!!!!

We were on a one-night stopover from Uyuni on our way to Peru, so we wanted to pick a hotel close to the airport. As a first time traveller to La Paz, I can attribute a lot of my perspective to my own ignorance; however, I hope my review helps others in my circumstances avoid my experience.
Hotel Alexander is located in a horrible and unsafe part of the city.
We were greeted at around 9:30pm by a security guard in a bullet/stab proof vest - luckily he could speak a small amount of English to help translate to the reception staff.
They do not accept any type of credit card and due to the unsafe nature of the area (especially at this time of night). As a result, the security guard escorted me the next morning around to a number of ATMs in an attempt to withdraw cash. In my life, I have been in some bad places; walking around this part of town unarmed, even in the morning was a very disconcerting and uncomfortable experience.
We had to wake up a homeless gent who had locked himself inside the 'secure' ATM room for the night. After getting the homeless gent out, the security guard backed up to the door of the room while I locked it and withdrew cash struggling not to vomit from the puddle of mess left on the floor inside the ATM.
If I did not have the assistance of the security guard to speak to local police and other security guards to finally find an ATM that accepted foreign cards, I am not sure what the outcome of the overnight stay would have been.
On to the room: Filthy, smelly, noisy and in a horrible state of disrepair. The bathroom was a sight to behold and as the shower door was completely broken the bathroom floods. The bed was still filthy from whoever had stayed in the room previously and still smelled of cigarettes.
The reservation came with a 'free breakfast' served at a small 'bar' with stools around the corner from the reception. One look at the state of the place was enough to make the pre-vomit response happen, let alone eating the pre-packaged breakfast food on display on the counter.
Do not stay at this hotel..... ever.
