Some places promise relaxation — Kims Retreat delivers it with effortless grace. Our third stay in May 2026 reminded us exactly why this coastal sanctuary keeps drawing us back. From the moment we arrived, that familiar sense of calm washed over us: the soft hush of Toowoon Bay, the gentle sway of the Norfolk pines, and the unmistakable feeling that life has just slowed to the perfect pace.
The setting: Peace Wrapped in Ocean Air
Kims sits in one of the most glorious pockets of the NSW Central Coast. Each sunrise felt like a private performance — the sky warming from lavender to gold as we wandered down for quiet beach walks before breakfast. There’s a tranquillity here that’s hard to describe and impossible to fake. It’s the kind of peace that settles into your bones.
The Staff: Genuine Hospitality, Every Time
The team at Kims has hospitality down to an art form. Warm, attentive, and wonderfully unobtrusive, they strike that perfect balance of making you feel looked after without ever intruding on your space. It’s rare, and it’s one of the reasons the place feels so effortlessly luxurious.
The Food: A Celebration of Seafood and Indulgence
If there’s one danger at Kims, it’s the buffet — because it’s too good. The seafood is abundant, fresh, and irresistible. Every meal felt like a celebration, and we indulged shamelessly. From delicate oysters to rich, perfectly cooked fish, it was a parade of flavours that made each evening feel special.
The Atmosphere: Sundowners & Serendipity
Whether we were enjoying sundowners on the deck or being serenaded in the bar by the resident musician, the vibe was always spot‑on. Relaxed, intimate, and beautifully curated. Nothing felt forced. Nothing felt commercial. Just pure coastal charm.
The Verdict
There was nothing — truly nothing — to fault. Kims Retreat remains one of those rare destinations that gets better with every visit. Peace, beauty, indulgence, and heartfelt hospitality all wrapped into one unforgettable stay. We’ll be back, again and again.

The perfect destination for a quiet and relaxing getaway
Another Wonderful Stay at Kim's.
Once again, Kim's delivered an exceptional experience.
For a peaceful mid-winter escape, it's hard to imagine a better destination. Our beachfront accommodation [Long Beach] was positioned just metres from the sand, allowing us to enjoy spectacular sunrises every morning of our five-day stay.
Breakfast is always a highlight, with a generous continental selection, delicious cooked options, and outstanding coffee. Dinner is equally impressive. The à la carte menu offers something for everyone, and I can highly recommend the eye fille - always cooked perfectly.
We return to Kim's twice each year for the same reason. It's the ideal place to unwind: arrive, greet the familiar friendly faces, then retreat to the beachfront verandah with a good book, a favourite beverage, and the stunning ocean views.
What truly sets Kim's apart is the atmosphere and the people. Diana, Peter, and General Manager Adelaide lead an exceptional team whose professionalism, enthusiasm and focus on guest experience is second to none. Adding to the ambience is the wonderful piano accompaniment from local musician Dorian Mode, whose performances make Wednesday and Saturday evenings feel just that little bit more special.
The Kim's experience is difficult to capture in words alone. Unashamedly adults-only, it remains the perfect destination for a quiet and relaxing getaway. And remarkably, it's all just an hour from Sydney's northern suburbs.
We are already looking forward to our next visit.

Refreshed and Renewed
The location is superb, but that's not even the half of it. The staff are wonderful, the food is top-notch, and the tranquility is to be prized. I only stayed three nights, but feel so refreshed and re-energized.

Did not live up to price paid.
Lovely location right on the beach, peaceful & calm vibe.
Unfortunately our bed was so uncomfortable we couldn’t sleep. I mentioned this checking out & were told new beds were being delivered that day.
Overall the resort needs a major upgrade.
Staff were friendly & pleasant.

We are very pleased to hear that you enjoyed our location, the peacefulness and our wonderful staff while you stayed with us recently.
We are disappointed to hear that you did not sleep well while you were here.
We adhere to a very strict maintenance program throughout the property and this includes the inspection of each and every bed at Kims on an annual basis. Our beds are very high-quality Simmons Beauty Rest Pillow-Top Beds from the “Do Not Disturb” collection at Sleepmaker, which have a combination of supportive firmness and sumptuous softness from the pillow top.
Our annual inspection recommended only 2 beds be considered for replacement and we, of course, immediately ordered these.

NOT BABY FRIENDLY
After travelling for some time to arrive to this beautiful location, ready to celebrate our 15 year anniversary, we couldn’t have been more disappointed with what occurred.
As we walked in the door, we were told that we could not come in as they saw we had a baby! They explained it was “plastered all over the website” that it was “adults only” however I looked over it with excitement very often in the lead up to our trip, and I did not see such notice. I did not think I would have to read every single sentence on every tab there to find this fact. I highly recommend updating your website to notify potential customers of this more clearly.
It was a Monday night, and there was only one car in the car park, so it didn’t not seem very busy, and I am puzzled why there couldn’t be some
accommodation for us to stay given the circumstances. But alas, we were turned away and left to find alternate accomodation in a small town last minute. Not ideal.
We had ordered the fruit platter on arrival and and it wasn’t until asking that we got to take it away in a cardboard box. They initially just said they would charge us for it. They indicated they were doing is a favour by giving us a refund, and I’m glad they did, but noted that they typically wouldn’t even though the cancellation was not our choosing.
Bitterly disappointing.

At the time of your online booking, only two adults were selected under attending guests on your reservation and there was no mention of a baby. If there was a mention of this, we would have contacted you prior to arrival to inform you of our adults only policy. We do state this on both our main website as well as under each bungalow style when booking through our booking portal that we are adults only. You did amend your booking to take part in a special we were running which we were happy to do but again there was no mention of a baby on your booking.
When you came to reception we did offer a full refund for your accommodation which is something we do not normally do on the day of arrival as we already had your room ready for you. Our guests join us to celebrate romantic and special occasions away from children or grandchildren. Our adult only policy has been something we have had in place for at least 30 years.
