Best steak I have had

Rooms are spacious. Beds comfy.
Had the Wagyu special and it was amazing. It was cooked perfectly and it was melt in your mouth.

Little choice in this town, hugely overpriced

We had a room in the new motel building across from the old hotel. The room was modern and clean but very compact. There was a stocked minibar fridge but could not find a price list for the contents, so we stayed well clear. The bed was comfy and the room quiet at night. Parking close to the door. Sadly we were given two threadbare towels for use. At the price for a night - getting up towards $300 - we expected better, a lot better.
The beautiful revamped hotel over the road has excellent food at reasonable prices, and nice beer garden areas.

Accommodation and meal

Room was lovely so clean. Meal - ordered eye fillet but got given rib eye, so informed them the order was wrong and they quickly corrected it and it was very nice. The staff member Floor was a brilliant host so friendly and helpful she was an awesome staff member. Thank you Floor for an enjoyable evening.

DO NOT STAY HERE. VERY DISAPPOINTED

I wish I could give zero stars. Our stay was a nightmare from the start. The main door to our room wouldn’t lock or unlock properly — I had to call staff twice just to get in. Then, when I tried to shower, there was no hot water at all even after running it for over five minutes.
I was in Northam for a hot air balloon adventure with my disabled client, and these issues made an already stressful trip much harder than it needed to be.
After I politely emailed to explain what happened and requested a partial refund, the response I received was unbelievably dismissive. Instead of taking responsibility, they told me I “should have contacted the bar staff” and claimed they “found no faults” the next day — conveniently after I had already left. They refused to offer any refund whatsoever.
Clearly, customer comfort and accountability are not a priority here. Between the broken door, no hot water, and unhelpful management, I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. Spend your money elsewhere.

Fabulous little overnighter

We were very pleasantly surprised by our stay at The Rec. We arrived really late at night due to flight issues and they provided us out of hours access, which was easy to follow (we didn't realise our room was in a complex across the road but found it eventually). The room was super clean and modern and had a huge array of mini bar items, which would have been very handy if we had not bought our own stuff given our unexpected late arrival. Bed and pillows comfy, amenities all great. Would recommend a stay here.
