Great stay at a very nice hotel

This hotel is in a beautiful location. I was here on business and it was a really wonderful stay and close to everything in the Adelaide area.

Far from grand

It's really fallen. The escalator smelled like cigs, the hallways smelled like poop. There were crackers crumbs all over the floor which were visible immediately on entering. The armchairs were incredibly stained and need to be disposed of. The view looking back at Glenelg was awesome but the windows were so filthy that all photos taken out of it make it look disgusting. The queen bed had no fitted sheet, just a top sheet that came loose when rolling over in the night, to reveal a very stained, weird old blue mattress. There was a single bed blanket placed beneath this top sheet as a makeshift mattress topper. Truly bizarre for a hotel of this stature. I wouldn't expect these things from a low budget place, and I try not to stay at low budget places by booking places like the Stamford Grand. I'd just returned from months in South East Asia where I didn't encounter anywhere with these oversights and creepy vibe, at a fifth of the price of the Grand. Friends and family who visited during my stay laughed with me at the state of the hotel. I can't believe they're taking peoples money tomorrow. It needs to close ASAP and sort itself out.

Great location

We stayed at the Stamford Grand for two nights on our way to Kangaroo Island. It is a great location by the water in a suburb full of cafes, restaurants and interesting shops. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We have stayed there in the past and would definitely stay again at a future date.

Great location and easy access to tourist sites

great location and staff are very pleasant. Getting a little " dated" but still clean and well maintained. Prices for the area are on par and plenty of nearby things to see and do. Public transport (tram) outside the front door so no need for a vehicle to get around. Parking at a premium ($30) is the only set back if driving and staying at the hotel

It may be old, but it’s still Grand! The Stamford Grand at Glenelg is beautiful & its Bars & Lounges & Eating spaces are elegant & special. It’s not your average 5star but it is very special!
