A peaceful second stay in Buoc Village with warm hospitality
My room was generally comfortable and reasonably priced. Ms. Cuc, the homestay owner, was open, friendly and very hospitable, which made the stay feel warm and personal.
I had both lunch and dinner at the property. The food was quite delicious, well-seasoned and had the comforting feel of a home-cooked meal. However, the service was a little slow. I visited on a weekday during the low season, so perhaps the property was operating with fewer staff than usual. Improving the serving time would make the dining experience even better.
Breakfast included a cup of coffee and a mango crêpe. It was nicely presented and tasted good, although the portion may feel a little light for guests who prefer a more substantial breakfast.
My visit took place during the rainy season, so the nearby Xia Stream was muddy and I could not enjoy as many outdoor activities as planned. As the property is surrounded by nature, there were quite a few mosquitoes at night and occasionally some noises coming from the roof.
I also noticed that the wooden floor had a slight movement or creaking feeling when walking. I am not sure whether this is simply part of the traditional stilt-house structure or whether some areas may need additional maintenance. A routine check could help guests feel more comfortable and secure.
Overall, La Maison de Buoc remains a charming place for travellers who appreciate rustic surroundings, village life and peaceful nature. I especially appreciated Ms. Cuc’s hospitality and the tasty home-style food. With some improvements in room maintenance, mosquito control and service speed, the experience could be even more enjoyable.
