Stay in a Cave:
STAYED IN A CAVE! Atak hotel an excellent value. Nice front desk, very little English but like most Turkish people sincerely helpful. The room was a cave with a nice shower and toilet in the en-suite set up. Cool temperature as air conditioned! The desk clerk showed us to the roof of the hotel. I was baffled. There were carpets and chairs set out and a virtual UN of tourists from Malaysia, Indonesia, India, Europe. In trying to communicate with the others I was told we were there for the meteor shower! The Persiads! Aug 13. I think it brilliant advertising on the hotel’s part. It was stunning. Every was dazzled. Everyone there watched from about 5,000 ft altitude with no humidity or pollution.
The hotel is obviously safe and the town center 200 yds away. Ask the hotel for the best restaurant…then go spend $10 on a tasty meal. Very reasonable pricing, perfect location, friendly staff.

Nice but basic Hotel
The hotel is very basic but clean. That’s reflected in the price, so no complaints.
Good bits:
- Central Location in Goreme
- Free parking infront of the Hotel
- Breakfast with nice views from Roof Terrace
- The hotel owner lady is very helpful and gave us heaters and extension cable, when needed
Not so good:
- Well its very basic.
- No central heating or AC in the room
- wifi not too strong.
- Staff doesnt speak much english (but that’s mostly the case in Turkey anyway).
All in all a good stay and Value for money.

Brilliant!
My 5 days in Cappadocia were pure magick starting from the Atak Hotel. I arrived around 8pm, Aysha, the landlady, was standing at the door, she probably heard a van coming and came out to meet me. She gave me a hug and a kiss and showed me to the room. She's actually like a mother to her guests, always ready to help with anything, open hearted and generous. We had chai in the evening a few times, it was a pleasure to chat to her. Even though her english is not very good, she always tries to understand you, using a translator, her husband or one of her kids, who speak english.
The hotel itself is basic, but clean and neat and there's a feeling of home to it. Breakfast is massive! I didn't eat lunch even once, simply wasn't hungry till the evening. There's a lot of home made stuff for breakfast like jam, tahin, mild spicy sauce etc. Also it's possible, like in many other hotels in Goreme, to watch balloons early in the morning from the roof.
Aysha's son arranged a transfer from the airport and a hot balloon flight for me.
The location is very good, 5 mins on foot to the bus station, still very quiet at night, at least in rooms facing the backyard. I slept without earplugs what is unusual for me while travelling.
I definitely recommend Atak Pension to stay there.

Highly recommended - excellent breakfast
Really enjoyed my time at Atak Hotel. The breakfast was absolutely delicious. Hotel centrally located. The host was very helpful with any queries. Excellent value for money for solo traveller. Thank you.

Sometimes you get more than paid
This nice budget hotel is very close to Goreme centre and 5 min walk to a Bus Station. I prefer family run hotels as this one. It is clean and quiet hotel with a very good breakfast (taking into account how low is a price) and free Wi Fi. Owner of the hotel Aisha was very friendly. She helped me choose a good travel agent for local excursions. Hotel has a terrace on the roof where you can watch flying balloons during a sunrise. I liked to sit there in the evening with a glass of good Turkish wine, looking at fantastic Cappadocia landscape. Thank you, Aisha!
