Nice clean room & bathroom: We opted for the more basic room as it was just a quick overnight stay, as well as a trip down memory lane - we’d stayed here on our travels 33 years ago and wanted to see if the original owners, Patrick & Cathy, and their son, Ben, were still here; sadly not but the owners have kept the original building in good order and thoughtfully added others, still in keeping. They all surround a very nice swimming pool; good size but doing lengths & sun bathing around (could do with some parasols though as it was lovely weather & the sun is hot).
It’s about 25 min walk from the centre of town, but we’re happier being on the outskirts as we found some areas of Chiang Rai had sadly become a little undesirable; but the city is still with a visit & you can avoid these.
Helpful staff who waited past 9pm for our arrival due to delayed travel, and the receptionist called our next hotel for us as I was having trouble getting a response from them.
Definitely recommend Ben Guest House

The place is great but the location is really hide, I want use the pool in the morning before to check out but they were cleaning it until 11am so I just enjoyed for 30 minutes… check out is at 12pm. They offer coffee and cookies free and I had the breakfast alone… not sure if more tourists stayed in the place… I shared bathroom but I only used it, I like the glass water. No aircon but the fan is close to the bed, which makes it comfortable.

Nothing to say, a place I recommend. The staff is very nice, the pool top and the hotel is not too far from the city it is even done on foot in 20min max. The bed slightly lacks soft but nothing very mean very honestly.

I arrived from Chiang Mai tired and stressed. So it was nice to find the Ben Guesthouse offered a nice respite with good amenities. I appreciated the hot water pressure and cleanliness of my room. There are also some great restaurants and cafes close by.
