Relaxing and peaceful
I asked our travel agent for somewhere in Thailand that is quiet and suitable for a few days retreat. That is exactly what it was. The resort is clean, well maintained and constantly serviced by friendly staff. Breakfast was so varied to suit all tastes and Western and Thai cuisines. No-one can honestly go hungry here. Meals served throughout the day are good quality, well presented and reasonably priced. The beach is beautiful with very little tidal difference so the sea is always at your feet. Clear waters, warm even in February and safe for all. Towels provided on the beach but grab your lounger early to ensure you get a good choice.
The rooms are clean and spacious with daily bottles of water supplied. Our room was high on the hillside, so it was good exercise every time we went up there. Beware if you have difficulty with 85+ steps up and down.
There is not a lot of scope for places to visit on the island. We walked each time but in the high humidity- tiring and plenty of water. The bus service is only a maximum of 50THB but seems to be very erratic and we couldn't find out the official timings. There are taxis but at 300THB we declined (skinflints).
Of the those beaches and resorts that we saw and explored we conclude that Ao Prao is by far the best of anything. For a quiet, relaxing break it is ideal (as long as you are not seeking to go sightseeing).

Wonderful place!
Relaxed at this hotel in March 2026. The hotel is located in a quiet bay of the same name on the west coast of Samet.
Commuting to the hotel from the mainland from Ban Phe village. There is a separate AO Prao Pier from which tourists are taken to Ao Prao Beach. If you are staying in a hotel - transfer is free, both ways. Free Speedbots run three times a day.
Upon arrival on the island you are greeted by hotel managers, luggage is delivered to your room, welcome drinks and memorable photos. There are only 3 hotels on Ao Prao Beach: Ao Prao Resort 4 on the far right, in the middle of Kerala Coco's triple, followed by Le Wemar 4. We liked our hotel the best by location - in the corner by the mountain, the road ends in front of the hotel.
The hotel has a large number of views of rooms and cottages. From the beach cottages to the buildings on the hill. We relaxed in a deluxe cottage. Luxury location - to the sea 20 meters, second line, just behind the beach cottages. From our cabin there was a straight path to the sea, thirty steps and out to sea! Restaurant with breakfast - same amount)
The cottage is small, cozy, with a terrace. Inside everything is beautifully finished with wood, good air conditioning. The equipment is standard: fridge, kettle, tea, coffee, milk for coffee, safe, bathrobes, nice beach bag.
Fruits (mainly apples, pears and tangerines, a couple of mini-mangoes) were brought in every day.
Breakfast is good, standard for a four. Fruits, soups (including Thai), delicious cheese, sausage, yogurt. From unusual chips: very delicious author drinks made of natural berries and fruits, with the names Wake Me Up or Clean Sunrise (pineapple, beetroot, orange juice!)). Very delicious and unusual.
AO Prao Beach we liked best on Samet: the quietest by sea and by people. Small, 400 meters. On the left is a big coral reef, perfect for snorkelling, clean, lots of fish. People are scarce, tourists are hardly brought. The beach itself is not very wide, but not completely flooded. In the high tide the sea reaches the sunbeds, very pleasant. There are not many beds, but there have always been enough, most of them standing under palm trees and trees. The sand is yellower than other beaches Estimate and sometimes there are places with pebbles, but you can also watch fish directly on the beach by the hotel without going to the reef and the wave almost never happens.
There are only hotel restaurants on the beach, delicious but slightly more expensive than on other beaches. There's a store by the reef, you can only buy water and drinks. There are two sevenevens on the island, but in one place on Sai Kai Beach, they are 2 km away, by taxi sangteo 200 baht (minimum). But if you wait for the sangteo bus, you can leave for 30 baht (never worked out)).
Great respect to the staff! During the stay, very delicious soft cocktails were offered as a compliment from the hotel. On leaving the hotel we were given a wicker beach bag and a framed picture of us thanking the hotel. The staff walked to the boat and then stood on the pier for a long time, waving in their wake.
We recommend the choice of Ao Prao Hotel, both quiet, cozy, beautiful, with a clean and calm sea, where in one place there is a beach with fine sand and clean water, and a reef with snorkelling fish.

A lovely place to drive and dase
A lovely place to relax. A super hotel with a very friendly and helpful staff, fine large rooms, good food and everything the heart desires in the immediate vicinity. Good beach chairs and good towel service. We have nothing to expose on either hotel, prices or staff. The only reason why the place doesn’t get top scores is the beach, which at times was very dirty and flooded with garbage from ships and possibly nearby islands. It was a little nasty, but then the beach guests helped the staff clean up and clean the beach. It helped. Thanks for 4 beautiful nights.

very nice establishment to spend a quiet stay, welcoming staff and taking care to meet your requests.

Having gained experience from the Samed Resorts group, Ao Prao Resort is one of the two best choices.
Ao Prao Resort is beautiful, with stunning views, a beautiful beach, delicious food, and a private atmosphere. It's suitable for groups of friends, families, couples, or even solo travelers. Ao Prao Resort has complete facilities and plenty of activities.
All the staff are lovely, I repeat, all the staff are lovely. Everyone is very friendly. The service is outstanding. At the bar, whether it's cocktails or mocktails, everything is fantastic.
The room is beautiful and spacious. As for whether it's worth the price, personally, I think it's excellent.
I was impressed with everything about Ao Prao Resort.
If you ever visit Koh Samet, you must try Ao Prao Resort.
