Ultimate hideaway location.

The ultimate get away from the world experience. Very comfortable rooms with views of the sea. Spaced to give privacy and quiet. There are many separate areas to sit or lay to get ultimate seclusion, and an idealic bar serving cocktails from a recycled dhow boat. Attentive staff appear from nowhere when needed and nothing is too much trouble. Located away on its own, the Lodge offers numerous trips for those who want to explore further or visit the lively capital Stone Town. There is also a snorkeling centre based in the grounds for trips out to many of the smaller islands.

This is not a 5-star hotel but closer to 3

Small resort with friendly staff, good food, delicious pool. Perfect if you want peace and tranquility.
Resorts is located in a deserted place so you can not go for a walk and e.g. shop in a supermarket or get a beer/cup of coffee at a café. This means they can take extremely high prices for everything from drinks to excursions.
You get a bottle of water every day, if you don't get to drink it, you don't get one the next day but you have to buy a new one at the bar.
The worst are the rooms, they are simply so worn (although nice cleaning), the bathrooms smell (where not outdoor shower). Have traveled a lot but never experienced anything similar.
Only wifi in common areas with the reason that you have to enjoy the peace of the rooms - think the reason is that it costs money to install in the rooms.
If we had shown that the resort was so isolated we would never have chosen it.

Thank you, Christina, for your review. Fumba is quite secluded, but that is exactly what many of our guests enjoy. There is a restaurant in Fumba village, which is an easy walk along the beach.
Wi-Fi is available in designated areas only, as we encourage guests to unwind and enjoy the surrounding sounds of nature.
As Fumba is built on coral bedrock, we do occasionally experience minor building shifts. During the low season (March to June), we carry out ongoing maintenance room by room, including plastering, varnishing, and painting.

Perfect spot to relax

Fantastic place to stay and the perfect place to end a visit to Tanzania. Great location, comfortable cottages and the hospitality from Sharon and all the team was first rate. If you get the chance to take a walking tour of the village and meet some of the locals that is well worth doing as well.

A gem

Following a 4 day safari in Kenya, we spent a wonderful 6 days enjoying the paradise of Fumba Beach Lodge. If it's peace and tranquility you seek, then this is the place to stay. Beautiful surroundings and guaranteed space to enjoy everything the resort has to offer. Our accommodation was very comfortable and well serviced by really helpful and friendly staff. The bar is superb and the food both varied and of high quality. The whole place oozes quiet class and a visible respect for the privacy of all guests. Sharon's attention and interest shown to all guests was exemplary. We are so glad we were able to enjoy this little gem.
