A slice of paradis

Son of John’s Homestay is a quiet and relaxed place to stay, especially if you’re on safari and need a simple and peaceful base between trips.
Emanuel was a great guide with solid knowledge of the area and wildlife. He made the safari experiences feel safe, interesting, and easy to enjoy without any stress.
The atmosphere at the homestay is very laid-back and simple, almost like a small oasis where you can unwind after a long day out in nature. It’s not luxury, but it feels genuine and welcoming.
Overall, a good and authentic place that works well as a base for safari adventures, with friendly people and a relaxed vibe — a real slice of paradise.

Great stay in sonofjohn!!

I had a great stay at sonofjohn homestay.
The place is located in the middle of a rural village in the outskirts of karatu, far away from noise and the rush of town... Emmanuel and Lucy were great hosts and took me in to their beautiful place. The scenery outside was beautiful, the neighbors were nice and the bed was one of the most comfortable I've slept in all my travels.
I had so much fun I came back a week later.
There's a kitchen you can use and a beautiful garden to spend the time in. The water in the shower is hot and Emmanuel and Lucy helped me with everything I needed.
Lovely experience in a convenient price, really good value for money!!

Excellent homestay in a good location

Emmanuel and Lucy are so friendly and fun and hospitable. The rooms are very comfortable and they were quick to sort out the problem when we had no water in our bathroom. Food was great. Location was convenient for many top attractions.
Thoroughly recommended by us.

A warm welcome and a pleasant stay

We enjoyed our time at the Son of John Homestay near Karatu. The room was spacious and clean (great to have a hot shower), meals were nicely prepared, and the courtyard was a lovely place in which to share a beer and chat with friends. Every effort was made to accommodate our needs.
Our host, Emanuel, helped arrange a day trip for us to visit the Hadzabe bushmen and Datoga blacksmiths in the Lake Eyasi region. A wonderful adventure! He also made sure to get us safely on our way to our next destination by helping us with transport arrangements and communication.
Thank you for a pleasant stay and the opportunity to connect more meaningfully with Tanzanians.
Suggestions: As you are able, please add new mosquito nets for traveler safety and a couple of folding chairs in the courtyard for visiting.

Perfect stay

I felt really welcome. The rooms are spacious and really nice. Shower has warm water and bed is really comfortable. Dinner and breakfast both delicious.
