Just not okay. Too expensive for what is offered and also unfriendly.

Very unfriendly reception. So unfriendly that we decided to eat and drink somewhere else. Restaurant Spycher was very friendly and there we were appreciated as a guest / customer. Socket under bedside table hung out of wall. Downstairs a lot of noise. Mattress was like a wooden board.

Nice accommodation in Visperterminen with fantastic views and small weaknesses

We stayed two nights at the Hotel Rothorn and the bottom line was we were satisfied. Our room was not oversized but the size was perfectly fine, clean and at least the bathroom was relatively new. Plus a balcony with wonderful views over the Vispertal. An advantage is the convenient location, 5 minutes walk from the final stop of the post bus and right next to the chairlift to the Giw. The connected restaurant seems to have a monopoly position in Visperterminen at the moment, it was accordingly crowded in the evening. The number of employees is not appropriate (at least in our subjective opinion). In addition, not all employees speak German, French is definitely an advantage. Eventually the food came but nevertheless and tasted it too. If you're not in a hurry, everything is still in the green. Since the kitchen seemed rather small to us, we dare not predict whether freshly cooked or preferably convenience food was served.
We didn't like the fact that disproportionately loud music played on one night (from Saturday to Sunday). We don't know if the origin was in the hotel or in the neighborhood (which the hotel couldn't help) but unfortunately you couldn't really speak of night's sleep deep into the night.

Many years in Visperterminen

My wife and I have been coming to Visperterminen since September 1971. 26 times so far. Both summer and winter. During that period we stayed at Hotel Rothorn about 15 times. Usually about 10 days each. The Hotel is measured by Swiss standards a somewhat simple but certainly very enjoyable Hotel. Unfortunately, there is no elevator. The rooms with balcony are recommended. Management and staff have changed frequently during that long period. That was a little disappointing at times. Especially in 2023, with an Italian manager who only appeared occasionally. The price is relatively high, but not by Swiss standards. The village with a preserved character and its surroundings are unique. We always find the peace we are looking for. The number of solar hours is the highest in Switzerland. The view remains captivating.
In short: definitely recommended.

hands off

Room was actually OK but the rest was so unsatisfactory. Fridge with German plug
Nobody can understand you if you speak German, neither in the service nor at reception.
Noise until half past one in the morning and then chairs and tables dragged through the pub without consideration.
Breakfast was poorly prepared and the coffee was something but not coffee
