After a strenuous hike, we spontaneously booked a room at the Hotel Metzgern.
As we needed a "bathtub" that day, we asked on site whether such an option was available. To our surprise, we received a free upgrade and were given a dignified family room with a whirlpool bathtub. It was a delight!
Checking in was quick and uncomplicated. The family room we were offered was absolutely huge and we enjoyed it.
Breakfast was served at the table. It was plentiful and the extremely friendly service staff kept asking if we needed anything else. Compliments to the friendly staff at the Hotel Metzgern!
The owner was also there when we checked in and out and was extremely courteous and hospitable.
Conclusion: We can highly recommend the Hotel Metzgern in Sarnen!

Very good!

Excellent Hotel, just like a Swiss watch everything was top quality. Lovely rooms with expensive bathroom fittings this was surprisingly good value for the area. Nice restaurant with a limited menu and decent breakfast . Great location with parking behind the building. Would recommend for anyone touring or walking.

Spotless Swiss Clean hotel accomodation with Air conditioning! Great, Comfortable 3-night stay!

Excellent, charming privately owned hotel in the Old city. 5 minute walk from the train station. Owner is most accomodating and friendly. In fact, the Entire staff at this hotel are genuinely friendly and helpful. A nice, easy breakfast for guests is offered to begin your day. Rooms are spotlessly clean!- Swiss clean! I booked this for family who was visiting us in Sarnen who absolutely needed air conditioning as they were from North America and could not do without. Haha! This is the ONLY HOTEL in Sarnen with air conditioning.

Calm, peaceful and relaxing stay. Friendly and welcoming staff. Hotel very clean and tidy.

A lovely little hotel in the middle of this pretty town. Friendly, welcoming and helpful staff. Though we arrived quite late, chef stayed to cook us a meal. We were upgraded to the panoramic suite, with beautiful views of the surrounding mountains and the town. The whole place was very clean and tidy, with a very calm and peaceful atmosphere.
Sarnen itself is a compact and attractive town with all the facilities you could want. it would make a great base to explore the area further.

Great hospitality, very clean, hearty kitchen.

Staid there an entire month while on station at a nearby army base. Basic hotel, yet very clean, in fact my hotel slippers which I kept for an entire month where still white at the end.
The owner was very welcoming, had dinner at the restaurant once in a while, classic swiss food, try the “Cordon Bleu” fries where very crispy. Will definitely stay there again when back in the area.
