Good stay - excellent breakfast - room a bit tired

Overall we had a good stay at the hotel. The team are friendly and kind, the bed and room are comfortable enough, it is well located within the city of Lugano and within walking distance of the lake and town centre. The breakfast is very good - tasty/fresh and certainly pleasant outside on the patio. Breakfast was offered in the room rate (which is competitive). If we are passing through Lugano again then I am sure we would return. It feels the management and team really do want to make the stay pleasant for guests. The only comment I’d add is that the hotel/rooms/pool does just look a bit tired and perhaps in need of a bit of modernization … more attention to details (such as a squashed bug in room/broken bathroom cieling etc ) perhaps.

Pros: beautifully designed and appointed hotel and room
Very professional and attentive staff.
Short walk to the lake.
Cons: dreadful WiFi, low bandwidth and always disconnecting from the internet.

Nice hotel with friendly staff

The hotel was nice and offered a spacious room for our family of three. We enjoyed the beautiful view from the window and the small balcony. The staff were very friendly and gave us a warm welcome. They were also helpful with practical matters, such as printing our Ticino Tickets. The breakfast was excellent. Free parking was available at the back of the hotel, and Lake Lugano was only a five-minute walk away.

Absolute recommendation

We felt very, very comfortable at the Hotel De La Paix in Lugano. We had a very nice room facing the pool with a side view of the lake. The air conditioning worked great during this hot time. Heavy curtains also allowed for good insulation against both too much sun in the morning hours and street noise. The room service was excellent and the minibar was restocked daily with refreshing, non-alcoholic drinks for free. A kettle could be used for preparing tea or coffee. The breakfast was delicious. The outdoor pool was great for cooling off. In the evenings there was live music. And so we enjoyed an absolute vacation feeling in the middle of the city. Basically, the very good price-performance ratio should also be mentioned with all of this. (Concerns the costs for the hotel!) Not generally in Switzerland ;-)) And with the Ticino Ticket, issued by the hotel, we traveled for free in all directions of Ticino.

The hotel is very well situated. It has a nice outdoor pool area. The rooms are very nice and comfortable. We had free soft-drinks at the minibar. The staff was very friendly and attentive. The breakfast was quite good. We even got discount coupons to spend in at the restaurant or the bar of the hotel. We will choose this hotel again if we visit lugano.
