Been here in april 14

I been in this. Hotel 2 april till 4 in the year of 2014. I was on a tattoo-trip in Biel.
The place is very good! Very friendly owner. Who doess his best for his customers-guests. clean room. Budget is cheap for a swiss place
nice food but standard.
good breakfast.

Good location but questionable service

Wanted to check in at 14:00 on Sunday afternoon. Found the hotel door locked. We called the phone number on the door but had communication issues due to language differences. Eventualy they sent someone to open the door for us. The whole process took at least 20 minuetes.
Breakfasst starts at 8am, not so convenient if you want to travel to a distant location. Room itself is OK.

Not welcomed

I know it can be charming and authentic to have an host who only speaks the local language, but that’s absolutely not practical since we could not communicate at all about when to pay, where was the room...
We speak English and French and the lady could not understand a single word, she was looking at us as if we were not welcomed at all.
However, we made it ! Everything in the hotel is oldy but well, it’s ok.
Not feeling very secure when entering the room that was already opened (any stranger could come and put cameras or anything else).

much better hotel than the price suggests

didnt expect much given how cheap - chose it for price and location which were what i needed. Very pleasantly suprised when i got there. Extremely friendly welcome and the owners were friendly throughout my stay. The room itself was much better than i expected - a few things look a little dated but overall this is a good quality hotel in a very convenient location with friendly warmth thrown in. And all that a a value price.

Good balance

The hotel is unassuming, unfussy and relaxed. The owner / manager is friendly and welcoming. My room was small but adequate, clean and simply furnished and with a comfortable double bed (generous for one person but perhaps a bit cramped for two). Decoration and style etc was pleasant and refreshingly not sterile like many chain hotels.
Location is generally in the centre of Biel but down a side road so surprisingly peaceful and residential feeling. Yet only 5-10 minutes walk to train station, lake, old town, etc - each in its own direction from the hotel.
The one odd thing - although the room has a kettle there are only herbal teabags and no coffee or regular tea. When I enquired the manager explained that he is against caffeinated beverages or something ("bad for the digestion", he said). So...bring your own Nescafé.
