Basic but OK layover in Älmhult
Parking is free (but half of the spaces are on the other side of the hotel so you might not find a place right in front of the entrance, but a short walk doesn't hurt -:).
Rooms are basic but functional. The chair textile was stained, which made the chair feel a bit unfresh, but apart from that, everything was very clean, and working as expected without any strange thing happening during our short stay.
An average but very OK breakfast in the restaurant opposite the hotel building. (Note that there is no minifridge in the room, I personally would not use the communal fridge in the so-called livingroom space, although other people may be comfortable doing so). Speaking of lounge area, I think I understand what the hotel designer was aiming for with the communal zones near the elevators, but it does not reach the living-room ambition, in my opinion. I spent ten minutes in a chair facing the construction site, which was only slightly better than facing the elevator, but saw no point staying there, so returned to my room. Perhaps if the hotel went more all-in on the living room idea, and made it more cosy somehow, it could be better. Right now, it's not wrong, but a bit smallish and so-so as a lounge area near the corridors. I guess it's the general basics of the building that removes all ambience. On the other hand, there are a couple of uncommon but commendable practical details in the hotel setup, e.g., we were just starting our roadtrip, so had no use of the laundry room, but I can imagine that the possibility for doing a set of laundry is a good extra feature for those who have been travelling a while.
I'd say that this hotel is currently (2026) not worth a visit as such, but it was decently priced for a layover in the region we were passing. I would consider it again in the future when the renovation is completed, if in the area, and if pricing remains competetitive.

Nice stay at the IKEA hotel
The staff is incredibly friendly and very helpful. If you haven’t stayed in their hotel, you should try it.
