Superb place and fantastic and friendly neighbours
Very clean rooms and washroom

Two nights in Haputale

Rafeek was waiting for us at the station despite a delay. We had a warm welcome and cup of tea, before he took us to visit Adisham Benedictine Monastery, which was about to close and we would otherwise have missed it. Dinner and breakfast were both very good. The next morning Rafeek dropped us off at Lipton’s Seat, and after taking in the views we walked through the tea plantations to Dambetanne. After a tour of the factory we caught the bus back to Haputale. The homestay is conveniently located very close to the town centre and railway station.

Be careful! Loud and noisy Homestay.

Please be careful with this family and the homestay!!! But let's start with the good points: the room quite big, bed is comfortable and bathroom is clean...
However we had to make a bad experience with this homestay. The owners seemed to be friendly but that's totally superficial. They offered us breakfast for 400Rps and when we confirmed they wanted to charge us 450Rps each. They wanted us to spend more and more money for a scooter, lunch, dinner, trips and so on. Furthermore they wanted to know all of our journey, where we had breakfast and dinner. Even the laundry service made our clothes bad smelling and more dirty than before. The area around is very noisy so that you can hardly find any peaceful sleep. We wouldn't recommend this place at all. Find another place to stay.

Value for money but bleak surroundings

We booked this place for 3 nights but left after 2 as the surroundings were really bleak. We had room 101 with balcony, which turned out to be just the passageway to our room and the next. The view from our windows, and the so called balcony,was that of the mouldy concrete facades of the four storey houses nearby. The other room does have a view towards the valley and coffee plantations.
We didn't sleep well during those 2 nights as the room does not have a fan and it got very stuffy. We tried to leave the bathroom window open but then came the mosquitoes.
The room was otherwise very comfortable with attention to detail (eg a torch is provided). The owner and his wife are very friendly and the food served for breakfast and dinner fine.

Outstanding - the best in sri lanka

We stayed one night here and the room was the best we've had in sri lanka. The room and bathroom were very clean and had modern amenities. The family were lovely, chatty and helpful. They organised us a tuk tuk to visit Lipton Seat. Plenty of good food at breakfast. I would highly recommend.
