Perfection and Peaceful

This is a 5+++ guest house. Catherine and her Mum are amazing hosts, and nothing is too much bother! The house is so full of character and history, and the grounds are stunning ... I could have stayed permanently!

A country house experience to remember.

If you're on the NC500 road trip this is a very convenient spot to overnight before tackling John o'Groats and the north coast road. The A9 is a fairly smooth run until you find the track down to Thrumster House. Prepare to be shaken and rattled until the large white house emerges in a clearing of the woods. Is this a TV drama? A film set for a scary movie? No! it's the prelude to a warm welcome from Cath and the dogs, Bert and Dhu and a country house experience you will not forget.
It's a rambling house with dedicated rooms for this and that, yes it's old and quirky but full of character and intrigue. Breakfast is fabulous. You'll leave with a smile on your face and get to J.o'G before the crowds arrive.

Two night pit stop.

Well we arrived after a drive up found the place nice and easy, Allred in and was told our self catering was ready and it was the Gate House at the entrance to the property, have to say first impressions on entering the property were not good as it was freezing no heating on (Baltic). Sorted heating out and hot water, then went for a walk with Barney, went into Wick for something to eat. Back to cottage which was warming up, and once warm was adequate for our stay with the dog. But after some of the accommodation we have been staying in was a bit of a let down.

A truly fabulous B&B

This is a wonderful, wonderful place to stay. My daughter and I stayed in the main house. As you arrive, as well as being met the friendly dogs-of-the-house, the main host - Cat - is interesting and clearly enjoys hosting. The main hall of the property, where you are invited to share a wee dram in front of the fire, feels unchanged for centuries. We were in the twin room which was spacious & clean, with comfy beds. The highlight for me was the main dining room where you are offered 'the full Scottish' for breakfast, alongside berries and yoghurt.
We loved the surrounding area as well, the walk to Old Wick castle was beautiful, and the stroll along the 7 mile beach just north of Wick will stick long in the memory.

Relaxt and comfortable

Catherine, her mom and the dogs Bertie and Dew gave us the most warm welcome. Everyone is completely relaxt (except for Dew who’s energy is catching) which makes you as their guest very comfortable. The House is authentic and the breakfast is amazing. We spent two nights here. Really want to come back one day.
