Great stay

Good location in the centre of Oakham the whole team at The Hornblower were friendly and attentive throughout our stay nice quiet room in the annex and a good breakfast cooked to order we also ate in the evening also very good , no hesitation in recommending this as a great place to stay when visiting Rutland, we will go back

Never come here

Disgusting buisness. They discriminated against a girl who has autism sat on a table near by calling her a rude girl. They then supported a homophobic man as they ‘knew him’. They called us a bitch. Staff were so rude and not considerate. Irene especially got in peoples faces and touched customers without consent. Clearly bullying.

Fabulous, meal and staff, disappointing matress

We booked Christmas lunch and decided to stay afterwards to make our day restful and relaxing. The lunch was outstanding, nothing was too much and each course was delicious. We stayed in room 1 which was large and spacious, however bit disappointing as there were no windows, which made it a bit claustrophobic, plus even though the bed was massive it was extremely uncomfortable and lumpy which meant sleeping was difficult. We had a lovely breakfast and I mentioned the bed to be told the mattress was being addressed. This was the third time I have stayed at the hotel and twice the beds were uncomfortable, this is a fabulous hotel, with lovely staff and ambience, but people will not return if they can’t sleep, hopefully the owners will address this before we return as we would only return to room 5 as we know this is a bed we can sleep in.

All staffs are very helpful during my check-in and also after check out. Tidy and clean room. Excellent breakfast and dinner. Definitely will visit again for my next trip. Thank you.

Pray they don't lock you out and take your money.

My daughter was stranded after a party, so I booked a room here in an emergency after 9pm for the same night. They accepted the booking, but said check in deadline was 8pm. I tried ringing them as did hotel.com but there was no answer. My daughter arrived and could not get in, which made her situation even more worrying. The hotel accepted the booking knowing full well she could not use the room and that they wouldn't have been able to let it out to anybody else at that time. They took the money and refused to refund it, they should not have accepted the booking, nice little scam they have going there.
