Avoid we paid for a room we never dreadful attitude used

Charged us for a room we never used. We only booked late at night and arrived half an hour later at around 9pm. We explained we couldn't sleep with that noise level (it's a music pub...we didnt know this) and had just come from A & E at the hospital and may have need to go back and so needed somewhere reasonably close to stay and rest. The barman said he understood 'no problem' and that the booking hadn't even come through on booking.com as we had booked less than half an hour before. They then charged us and had a terrible attitude. Hiding behind the booking .com rules, about cancelling, despite his previous conversation, (we didnt need him to 'ok, no problem ' for us to PAY and go elsewhere!), as an excuse to legally rob us. Theft in disguise. The bed hadnt been changed in any case, this was obvious, but we didnt bother mentioning at the time. In heinsight we wish we had. The bartender was rude and continued talking over me repeating the same thing when I called to explain we had been charged.

from great to poor in a few months

Found this gem in 2023, and have been a regular visitor since, called in this week and found the menu is a lot smaller, with a lot of favourites missing, also gone are the sandwiches and baguettes, also the smaller size portions that my wife enjoys are no longer available, we decided to eat anyway, as the food has always been excellent.
We both had the chicken,ham, leek pie mine with veg my wife with chips and peas
the pie was small and thin with thick pastry and the filling what there was of it was very bland, the gravy seemed like it was water and gravy granules mixed together (no flavour) and we thought the chips were the frozen kind.
We spoke to the couple next to us and they said it was going downhill, which is a shame as this pub was one of the best around, also noticed the prices have gone up
(almost hotel prices).
We also found out that it is new owners ( enough said). Will we go back ,i very much doubt it, very disappointing.

Great experience

Found his little gem on trip in Lincolnshire food outstanding had lasagne out of this world staff very helpful and friendly. Toilets immaculate. Will return again if in the area. Would advise a visit as food is outstanding and well presented.

Best B&B in Lincolnshire

Absolutely outstanding!
We stayed here for 3 nights and we were blown away. The rooms and so comfortable and clean and the service is brilliant. We were treated like royalty.
I will 100% be returning. 10/10 food is also really good and the prices are very reasonable. Thank you so much Trina and Mick
