Staff very friendly and welcoming, very comfortable stay

Very friendly staff, incredibly helpful. Nice atmosphere
We had a large room and ensuite bathroom with a view over the countryside.
Very comfortable bed with hood quality linen.
Parking outside or on street opposite.
Tea and coffee etc available in the room and a good size smart TV

North East stop over

Great hotel Inn with friendly staff and a good atmosphere. Reasonably priced. Shame the village is being taken over with new housing developments. Destroys the village and not in keeping with the area . Food fantastic and packed. Breakfast on departure. Worth the price

Great meal

We had a fantastic meal, a warm welcome and great service at the Village Inn.
We would definitely recommend if your travelling in the area .
The food was served in generous portions, fresh and piping hot , ideal on a wet day .

Stop over on way to Edinburgh

OK positives first
The staff are friendly and the breakfast was nice. But a very over cooked black pudding the was so hard you could have used it for an ice hockey puck.
Now the negative
They require payment on àrrival before you have even seen the room .
At first glance our room looked lovely, but on closer inspection oh dear!!, it needed a good dust and a bottom bed sheet that actually fitted the mattress would
be beneficial and there was no protective mattress topper.
There was another massive issue with the room which resulted in a full refund. The manager / chef was very apologetic.
The noise from downstairs on the Saturday evening was horrendous which included shouting, loud music and a dog barking , so l shoved my ear plugs in and tried to sleep
We were told that the door to the bar would be locked when the pub shut and opened again in time for breakfast although there was a fire escape to leave from it felt like prison release for good behaviour.
Would I stay here again NO
I THINK THEY NEED TO WORK OUT IF THEY WANT TO MAKE AGO OF THE PUB OR A BED AND BREAKFAST BECAUSE QUITE CLEARLY ITS NOT WORKING AS IT IS.

Drip Drip

A basic roadside inn. The meals were edible, but burger was overcooked, and so was the black pudding at breakfast. A previous review mentions the badly-placed table at the foot of the stairs. We were seated there as well, and I agree, it's not covid friendly, and you get sick of people pushing past (it's also on the direct route to the kitchen, so the staff are always struggling by.
We found the staff were very friendly and welcoming. The room was fairly basic, and the walls weren't thick enough to quieten the snoring of the bloke in the next room.
The shower was a disaster. It's an electric jobbie, so I presume the fact that it blows hot and cold (and often just trickles) means the water pressure just isn't up to it.
