Amazing service and incredible value for money

This is a fabulous hotel for all occasions situated in the west of London. The staff are incredibly well trained and provide exceptional customer service. Petronella on the reception set the standard for the rest of our stay.
The rooms are compact and what you'd expect in any central city location. The decor is sublime and although minimalist, the functionality and ambience create a very homely feel.
The food, I'd like to invite the youtube food critics because in our humble opinion, everything was cooked to perfection, exemplary presentation and served
served by staff who look like they all actually enjoy their work.
Don't just take my word, make a booking and discover this treasure for yourself

A few hiccups but overall a lovely stay

Some hiccups, but they made it right. A wonderful central location across from a lovely garden. (You may hear the vocalizing foxes at night, fyi.) Spacious rooms and nice toiletry amenities. Very comfortable bed.
Had a toilet maintenance issue upon afternoon arrival but there was no maintenance on site. Had to wait until morning but they efficiently fixed it then. And offered a smaller basement room to use facilities of in interim.
They offer a restaurant credit for Expedia bookers but I had challenges trying to use this. It’s only valid for lunch and dinner, not breakfast, and the day I tried for lunch I was told there wasn’t yet a chef on site to prepare their menu offerings. Also note that their site says restaurant opens for lunch at noon but they say on-site that they don’t serve until 12:30. Eventually left to make a meeting, so can’t speak to the food.
Terrific front desk service however - they were mindful of these glitches and offered a small % discount on the stay as a result. Grateful for that, and its efficient processing.
Overall, a lovely location and a caring team - I would return despite the couple of hiccups.

Value wasn’t there

Do not go. Staff is not helpful if you have any trouble with the room. It is a ”hotel” that is operated by WhatsApp. There’s a phone number, but nobody answers or returns the voicemail. If you send emails to the hotel prior to your stay, they are not read. You have to go to the front desk to reach anyone. There are no phones in the rooms. The staff says they write notes to their computer about any incidents, but nobody reads or follows the notes on the next shift of staff and nothing gets fixed during your stay. No manager was onsite when I was there. Other hotels usually fix issues right away or while you are out. They seem to not have the right staff to do this. Some of the front desk staff have no hospitality skills (new to the trade?), a few though are in the right profession and actually try, and made the stay a bit better and should make it a career for themselves. Kudos to them and thank you.
The Suites in the same category vary in size. They are not the advertised size and what we got was smaller, no luck getting the actual room you thought you were getting as you will get the run around of being fully booked. I work in construction and can read rooms from that perspective either Metric or Imperial, doesn’t matter. Did’t care to argue about size semantics with the staff. It is what it is. Moving on with life.
Upper floors accessible by an incredibly slow and run down tiny lift, you still have to carry your own bags a few steps, so not very accessible. If the elevator is full, it is a lot of steps to get out. Street side floors also get street noise of people and cars on top of that. Avoid the rooms next to an elevator as there’s noise from the doors and people.
Our room had tiny grey spiders. There was a lot of humidity and this is not isolated to our stay alone as the cabinetry is clearly warped from it and doors don’t close. In the middle of the night our bathroom ceiling was dripping onto the floor from one of the light fixtures. Floor was wet with a puddle and slipped on the shiny floor tiles. The carpeted floors are creaky. The box spring on the bed is noisy. The bedding is for winter and sleeps hot, so I’m guessing a lot of sweaty guests over the course of two years since they opened. I doubt the comforters get washed very often as they were bulky and heavy. Room is very run down with paint missing from furniture and walls, large stains on the carpet, scuff marks on the walls everywhere and this hotel was rehabbed completely in 2024, so should be in better condition. It has a lot of long term quality issues with the “design” choices they made, because older hotels in London don’t feel like this even when they are worn down. Looks like they spent their rehab money on touch screen mirrors and coffee machines trying to impress people. The TV doesn’t have the usual channels as it is a Roku TV, you need your own subscriptions. You apparently only get two rolls of toilet paper stay. Lucky for us we didn’t stay that long to run out, but heard the gossip from another guest.
We had breakfast included and it was ok, but have had better in other London hotels. There’s a M&S nearby with the same frozen to baked croissants, precut melon and processed hash brown triangles and yogurt cups, if you want to save money, the quality is the same. Bread was good. This is a pretty typical breakfast at the hotels in this price category. However, I would not spend the money on breakfast at the hotel unless you need convenience. The bar is closed most of the time or when you would like use at a normal cocktail hour. Not enough staff to run the bar.
Sure it is close to Earl’s Court station, but there were a lot of homeless drug users hanging around the area and no pedestrian z-crossing to get to the other side of the road. The gardens near the hotel are not accessible to hotel guests, in case you are wondering.
I don’t know how they are able to call this 4-stars based on the services listed as they are non-existent. Believe the bad reviews. Maybe it was nice when it opened, but the Instagram photos are not the reality unfortunately. They are heavily promoting on social media with influencers which should tell you how this hotel is trying to appeal to younger audiences, and maybe the good reviews are from influencers or people who haven’t stayed in other hotels in London. However, the basics of hospitality are not quite there. Feels more like staffed serviced apartments. I usually don’t write bad reviews, but in case you want quality sleep and a pleasant stay, and are looking for a solid hotel, there are better options in London. Choose wisely. Hope this helps.

Birthday Stay

Booked two suits direct for my mum's 60th birthday. Hotel staff were lovely, let us check-in early and had even decorationed my mum's room with balloons which was a thoughtful touch! We enjoyed complementary welcome drinks, well stocked mini bar in the room and full breakfast in the morning. The rooms were modern, clean and equipt with good air conditioning which was definitely needed in this summer heatwave. Amazing stay and will definitely be visiting again if we return to the area ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Our new go to

Our stay at the Ellen was excellent. It was close to the tube, but far enough from the main road to be quiet and peaceful. The staff were lovely very professional and friendly and kind. The accommodation was comfortable, very clean and well maintained. We booked via Trivago and price was a big factor in our choice and what we got was very good value for what we paid. This will definitely be the first place we look to when we come on our next London trip.
