A great spot!
We spent a couple of nights at Grinkle Park Hotel this last week, and it was an ideal base for exploring North Yorkshire.
The hotel itself was lovely, the staff were all and without exception such kind and thoughtful folk, and the dinner and breakfast was delicious. Surprisingly so to be honest! A dinner was included in the offer but we didn’t expect loads, but when we tasted it, we were proved so wrong. Top chefs!
Highly recommend for a relaxing stay!

Secluded gem
We stayed here for 2 nights with off a peak luxury voucher from our son. We wanted somewhere quiet and tranquil away from cities . We found the perfect place in Grinkle park hotel. I’ve given it 5 mainly due to its position at the end of a very long tree lined drive, and mainly to the staff who work there. They really make your stay perfect. They are like a family together , always have a smile on their faces and nothing is too much trouble for them to help you. Yes the hotel may be “dated” and some will complain the furniture is old, floorboards creak a bit in the rooms, but it’s rustic, clean and food was great. Our bathroom may be a squeeze for someone tall as the shower above the bath means standing up for someone over 6ft needs to mind your head..… the shower was good though….
The room was very spacious , plenty of storage space , a hairdryer, tea coffee makings with shortcake biscuits , not the tiny ones you usually get.. There are complimentary toiletries, the towels are large and great. Room was cleaned even though we were there 2 nights. The grounds are beautiful to walk around and so tranquil and so well kept . The hotel is within easy reach of local towns and beautiful villages and en route home we went across the moors to Helmsley… what a drive… just awesome before hitting 3 hours of motorways …
FAO the hotel manager/owners.. your staff are a credit and all so happy in their work and really seem to live their jobs and what s great place to work. Don’t expect to see a modern hotel as this is not… it’s rustic and old but a lovely place to stay…. I would return…

We booked for one night at Grinkel park and really enjoyed our stay. The building is set in lovely grounds that are well maintained. The interior of the hotel has an old fashioned but charming vibe. Everywhere is spotlessly clean and lots of places to sit in comfy chairs if you just want to relax with a drink or a coffee. The room was basic but clean- the tv very small!! and the bed very soft.
We had some bar food which was good and reasonably priced.
There were quite a few guests staying who were in repeat visits and I understand why. The staff are all super friendly and take time to talk to people and help.
I would definitely recommend for value.

Lovely place, lacking staff
Lovely grounds and our room (Ingleby) was lovely - large and clean and a great bed. We had dinner included which was fab. Food was delicious. The area that really let the hotel down was staff (or lack of) and breakfast, which seems unusual reading other reviews. On arrival we waited for anyone to appear at the check in desk, no bell to ring. Once we’d put our things in our room, we went to the bar, again waited a while for any staff to appear. At dinner, nobody took a drinks order, we eventually managed to order wine at the same time as our main arriving.
Breakfast was the real disappointment- went down at 8.45, breakfast served til 10. We waited 20 minutes for anyone to come and ask if we wanted tea/coffee - we asked to order some after 15 mins and were told they’d get to us. It wasn’t even particularly busy at that point. All bowls of chopped fruit, fruit salad and yoghurt were empty. Mentioned it but never refilled. My husband went for a pastry after his cooked breakfast but they had all gone too. He asked if there anymore, and told it would be 15 mins so didn’t bother as breakfast had already taken so long. My husband ‘s cooked breakfast was delicious. I had the smashed avocado which arrived on a piece of sourdough small than the palm of my hand, so considering no fruit or yoghurt either, it was a disappointing breakfast for me. The flies at dinner and breakfast were also very annoying. Another couple said they came 2 years ago and it was the same with the flies.
All in all we did enjoy our stay, mainly thanks to the lovely room and food. Another couple alikened it to Faulty Towers whilst we were laughing at dinner at the lack of service and we agreed we wouldn’t return again. A shame as a lovely setting and food, but let down by other aspects. We did mention these points at check out (despite not being asked how our stay was) and the lady just said that’s unusual. A small service charge is added to the total bill which we did feel was cheeky considering the lack of service!

Fantastic - nothing less
We were in a suite! We didn’t know when we arrived but we were assigned the Hydrangea suite and we were very happy considering we had a labrador with us as well. . To top that, they surprised us with tea and scones on arrival. It doesn’t stop there, in our booking, a two course evening meal was included . It was a great choice menu. We opted for the sirloin steak and swapped the accompaniments - we paid extra £7 for the steak but it was worth it. All the food was piping hot and big portions. Nothing spared. The staff deserve a mention as they were all so welcoming and friendly and couldn’t do enough for us. The grounds are huge and so picturesque and great for dog walks. We really recommend this place and will visit again
