A grand old hotel in perfect position

A lovely building right in the centre of the town, so walking distance to most places that one would want to go to. No car parking but the town has some free car parks behind the hotel.
Our bedroom was lovely with plenty of space and a view over the main square. The bathroom was fine, albeit a bit small, which is usual when upgrades have been made over the years. We would have preferred that the bathroom fan didn't stay on so long, it was rather noisy!
For your security, the lift is restricted to residents only. Staff were very helpful and pleasant and we enjoyed our stay but we would have preferred that the breakfast times didn't finish so early (09:00), after all many people there are on holiday!

Kelso Hotel

A lovely hotel in Kelso .Although some places could do with an update and refresh ,it was very clean and made up for it in spades by the service from staff, especially Derek in the bar.Reasonable priced hotel.Food good and welcome first class.It was the first time we stayed there but would not hesitate to return.

Excellent service, lovely atmosphere. Food was good and reasonable drinks prices. Large and spacious relaxing area. Highly recommend

Always a good Sunday lunch.

Had lunch at the Cross Keys - the generous carvery and the vegetarian dish which was very tasty gnocchi. (My heart sinks when I see risotto or curry as the only option!)
Followed by lemon tart with winter berries, chantilly cream and chocolate curls. It was delicious and nicely presented on the plate. Lovely staff and reasonable prices.

Review of the bar only.

The bar in the Cross Keys is very much a hotel bar, so doesn’t have any sort of a pub atmosphere. It’s horses for courses of course, and as a smart and comfortable place to relax with a quiet beer it’s ideal.
