An excellent stay

My friends are walking the Pilgrim Way and I went to meet them for an evening, to stay the night and drop them at their next starting point the next day. Andrew and Steph had had a disaster with guests the night before, rendering the room one couple had booked unusable. They arranged for them to stay at an inn down the road at no extra cost, and even took some money off the total breakfast charge as an apology, which was above and beyond. They couldn't have been nicer. They were great fun to chat to, and though the kitchen isn't open on a Sunday evening meaning that we ate elsewhere, they provided an impressive range of breakfasts, including plenty of vegetarian choice, at very good prices. It's an old building, so the twin room I stayed in with another of the party was up quite a steep, though quite short, staircase and was snug. However in spite of limited space, they had managed to create an en suite shower room with basin and toilet which, although again snug, was impressively designed. Everything was impeccably clean, and the couple couldn't do enough to accommodate us. I didn't pay for my room so I can't tell you whether it was good value, but going by everything else, I can bet it was. I am more than happy to recommend this inn to anyone needing to stay in the area.

Friendly and welcoming

My wife and I plus dog stayed this week. Extremely friendly landlord, landlady and staff, great evening meal and breakfast. Beautiful walking along the Itchen Way. We were really impressed with The Cricketers.

Family meal

We had a family meal for six, having an excellent meal. The staff were very friendly and attentive.
The visit coincided with the hotest day of the year (so far!) and what the heat was like in the kitchen can only be imagined.
The only slight issue was the lack of fans in rhe bar area to try and keep it cooler which would have been helpful.

We enjoyed it very much!

We ate lunch at the Cricketers Inn, and enjoyed it very much. The place had a very warm, comfortable feeling, attentive staff, nice food, pretty views, has a big outdoor area to watch the world go by, it was clean and cared for, friendly and prompt, and we felt right at home. I would recommend The Cricketers Inn for a good place to feel relaxed and happy.

We had a lovely stay. Andrew was a great host and showed us everything we needed. The bar was humming and our dinner was fabulous.
We had a great nights sleep. The renovated bathroom was excellent and had a nice big shower. Room 2 was lovely overall.
Breakfast in the morning was excellent..
Overall we had a lovely overnight stay at the Cricketers Inn and would not hesitate to stay here again when in the area.
