The quality manager

Jinny was excellent reception manager. Trust me, this compliment comes from a me is truly a good compliment (I am a guy who has worked many years in hotel food and beverage department, who worked in"high-end" hotels and restaurants.

Good.

The kitchen is well equipped and although it does not offer breakfast on a daily basis, it offers form bread and free coffee.
The common area (room) is well decorated.
The mattresses weren't good.
The showers are few for the number of guests, but in a very small space and even claustrophobic!
The toilet area smells of mud and is in insufficient quantity for guests.
There are not enough sockets in the room and much less close to the beds

The hostel manager, Jason, shouted aggressively at a guest in front of others, stopping her from finishing her food.

Jason, the hostel manager, was aggressive and unprofessional toward a guest yesterday. The guest was preparing food when a staff member initially told them to leave. She explained she had already put food in the oven, and the staff member allowed her to finish cooking, instructing her to leave afterward. Immediately after, Jason entered, stopped her from cooking, and shouted at her to leave in front of other guests. His behaviour was intimidating and completely unacceptable.

Great Location & Cozy Vibes, But Facilities Leave Much to Be Desired

Inverness Student Hostel is conveniently located just a 7–8 minute walk from the town centre—great for a quick overnight stay. The rooms were decently spacious, and the beds and bedding were comfortable. The cozy interior decor added a nice touch and made the common areas feel warm and inviting.
That said, the facilities left much to be desired. The shared bathroom setup was not the most comfortable, with only 3–4 shower stalls and limited space to change clothes. The wet floors made it tricky to move around, and I even spotted some pee drops in the shower—definitely not a pleasant experience.
Overall, the hostel has a welcoming vibe and a great location, but the cleanliness and comfort of the bathrooms could really use an upgrade.
If you're just looking for a place to crash for the night, it works. But for anything longer or more comfortable, you might want to explore other options.

It had an amazing, welcoming vibe

We stayed at this hostel for one night after driving from Loch Ness. This hostel was so beautiful and welcoming. The lady on reception talked us through everything we needed to know and nothing was too much trouble.
We stayed in the hostel in the evening rather than going out and it had an amazing vibe with people reading, knitting, eating and playing guitar.
We cooked in the self catering kitchen and it had everything we needed and it was kept very clean by the other guests and staff. There was free tea and coffee as well as a reasonably priced buffet breakfast in the morning.
The hostel itself was built into the side of a cliff with views over the city and the river. It was so pretty! It was a very short walk into the centre of Inverness so it was ideally situated.
I would definitely stay here again if I was in the area!
