Very noisy poor value. Looks are not everything
In fairness the room we eventually had- having asked to be moved from the tiny room up several flights of stairs that had no possibility of escape if there were a fire-was beautiful.The decor was really lovely. And the staff were great too. On us complaining about our original room the lady who helped us was lovely and showed us to a bigger room with at least a possibility of leaping out of a first floor window if there was a fire. What she didn't mention was it was right over the pub below. There was no sound insulation so the noise of the karaoke below sounded like it was in our room till 12am.
So so disappointing - the night before we had paid £53 for a boring but well equipped and very peaceful Premier Inn room. We had decided to treat ourselves for our second night away to a night in "The Dog House ". It looked lovely but perhaps the name should have warned us.
The owners need to get a handle on this. They are breaking the law having no fire instructions. They need to clearly warn people that the noise below is very very bad.They need to warn of no TV and no chair. They need to warn you of the steep stairs . They also need to clearly mark the dangerous step in the shared tea and coffee area. It is hard to spot. I am 70 have sciatica and a torn knee meniscus, the stairs were difficult , tripping down the invisible step in the tea area has worsened my condition.
In spite of the pitch perfect decor this is the worst place I have ever stayed. Avoid unless your fireproof,hate TV,wake at the same time as your partner and intend to be in the pub downstairs till closing time.
