Great hostel right next to Waverley Railway Station

My second visit to the fringe staying here. £50 a night isn’t exactly cheap but it is the fringe so it actually is. The hostel is clean and well kept considering the footfall. Staff are helpful and the pillows fine as I am up and about, back late and only sleep here. There seems to be good activity organised if you spend time here. As for reviewers less happy, its a hostel and a good one. If you want something that is more like a hotel or air b&b, pay more and do that. I’ll be coming back though.

Well located and a real bargain!

Great location, right by the station and just what I needed. I received a friendly welcome and the hostel was very clean and well maintained. My bed was comfortable so I slept well. The only downside was a shower that sqirted water around the room, but otherwise a lovely stay and I would recommend it.

Perfect for our one night stay as a group of 5 in a private room! Great location, clean, and relatively quiet!

A last minute booking as my flight was delayed and couldn’t make connecting train, everything was fine, bottom bunk a little short on headroom but fine for sleeping, everything clean but energy saving toilets often didn’t flush but thats just down to water power, Perfect location could’ve better placed with its own bar and 5 mins walk to train station and city centre

Helpful staff at reception and good position…but cleanliness and facilities are poor

The facilities are quite used and narrow, cleanliness isn’t a big priority I’ve been there 3 nights but the bathrooms were always dirty. Saw a cleaning lady only once. Pub and dorms are separate and the relax room is in a different building across the road, also small and not very clean. Breakfast is okay, not much choice always the same things every morning and the waitress was quite rude and rough.
Maybe the smaller rooms have better service but the 10/12 bed rooms are quite uncomfortable.
I give 3 stars only because the staff at reception has been extremely nice and friendly, helpful and willing to assist. Those guys really deserve a raise! Position is very good… but other than that it’s not much of a deal.
