Great hotel
Fantastic location, just off Princes Street, with plenty of restaurants about.
Very helpful, friendly staff and we managed to get a room with a window overlooking the front , looking out over St Andrew’s Square
Breakfast was also excellent, with cereals and fruit to help yourself to, followed by a choice of hot food.
Would definitely stay here again.

Another great stay at a Malsaison
Edinburgh City is no exception.
Although in any Mamaison, I’ve always found the staff friendly but professional, I have to say this location reached the top of my (very high bar) list for their level of friendliness even during the busy time that was the Edinburgh Festival.
There was one issue that may be important to others, so I’ll include it here, but it wasn't significant enough to me to warrant a markdown in rating.
Our room faced other buildings (which was reasonable for a city hotel), but during our stay, there was a slight humming noise that could be heard in the room even with the windows closed, and it seemed to be coming from something like the ventilation or something similar on the roofs of the other buildings outside.
Actually, it was quite relaxing and was the sort of white noise that I sometimes deliberately bring up on my iPhone. My brain soon got used to the (slight) noise and blocked it out, so it wasn't a big issue for me, but I’m including this reference to it, as it might be important to others. Be assured, it was a very slight sound.
That aside, this is yet another Manlasaion that I’ll return to when next staying overnight in Edinburgh.
