Fabulous roast!

The pub is run down but don’t let appearances put you off if you want a spot on Sunday roast and great service. Been twice, once in winter na since in summer (recently) and the food was really good, seasoned well, great portion and the roast beef was great which is very hard to get even in more premier venues that are double the price.
I would recommend to anyone who would like a roast that reminds them of home.

Disappointing GF Sunday lunch

How disappointing, lovely pub, staff and service, excellent food but let down by gluten free options, the normal lazy way to offer gf Sunday lunch just don’t provide all of the food but still change a full price.

Great pub and celebration venue

Really excellent staff who go out of their way to help and clearly love their jobs. Very refreshing to witness great customer service.

The property as a whole was in poor condition and was not clean. The food was not very nice. It appeared to be from a food service company, just thawed, cooked and served.
It is clear that the premises had not been subjected to a health and safety impact assessment. For example, the showers were in the bath and no non-slip mats were provided. This meant that having a shower was lethal, as was getting out of it as the floor was just lino.
Generally hygiene was very poor. Outside toilets were not nice, rooms were not cleaned during a two night stay.
Expensive - I had a single occupancy room and I paid more, including booking fee on Expedia, than people in a double occupancy. Breakfast was not included in the price so there was no reason for it.
Breakfast - this appears to follow game theory with different levels of breakfast and many options for basically the same thing. Pots of tea are barely a mug and each pot is charged for.
For those attending a wedding locally there is not much in the way of an alternative close by. However, where there is no real need to be in Crocombe, I would suggest staying somewhere else.

A proper Local.

I have been going to this pub for years, it's my favourite place to go for food and drink, the best beer garden, lovely quirky bars a proper public house, lovely welcoming staff, excellent food and their beer festival The Carewfest is a fantastic weekend.
