On-site parking right outside the room. Room was clean and spotless. Staff were very helpful in suggesting and describing how to get to town (Bath) by bus. The bus stops were right outside he door.

Absolutely fantastic.

Absolutely charming! We stayed for three nights with a baby and everything was perfect. The rooms are incredibly well decorated, with great attention to detail (books in every corner!), everything very clean and cozy. The hotel is also a pub and we had breakfast and dinner there every night. The restaurant's cuisine is wonderful, both in quality of ingredients and preparation as well as in presentation and quantity; furthermore, they accommodate vegetarians, vegans, and special menus for babies (no salt, for example).
A very positive point is that it has a playground area with tables where parents can eat calmly while watching their children play. My baby had a great time watching other children!
The staff is charming and they treated my daughter in a very beautiful and special way. I highly recommend this hotel/pub. I hope to return soon!
P.S.: the train passes near some rooms, but it didn't wake any of the three of us up (and I am sensitive to noise).

A GEM of a find, just when we needed it x

Wow … my friend Karen and I stumbled across this wonderful pub/b&b whilst escaping the ant infested WOMAD campsite! .. we dropped in for breakfast and soon got chatting to the breakfast manager Julie. She told us that, as WOMAD folk, we would get 20% off breakfast & if we downloaded the Butcombe app would also get 20% off accommodation!! She then let us know that she had a room available for the last night of the festival and we nabbed it (now firmly in the knowledge that our camping days were over!) … The food to the lovely room were fabulous … Yes, there’s a train line running by the side of the pub but this didn’t affect us .. All the staff we encountered were super friendly, helpful & chatty … The breakfasts were gorgeous, using the best ingredients & cooked/presented beautifully… This was a real find. (For info we stayed in Alchem room) xxxx

Disappointed

Party of eight for birthday celebration lunch. A greeting was not forthcoming and we felt that we were an inconvenience by staff member.It took effort to remove forks which were stuck to the table!. Two teas selected were not available. One of the burgers had cold and hot spots and one was burnt, even the steak served was very bland. Condiments were empty, and vinegar sparse. Staff badly need hospitality training and for hygiene reasons, tables that we occupied should be urgently refurbished. As local residents, we were extremely disappointed and will not recommending or returning

We were staying in a heatwave and our lower room was spacious and stayed quite cool. The bathroom could have done with some attention but was overall adequate. Staff were helpful and breakfast was good. We felt they could have done with some extra help.
