Great location with super staff. Would return.
We stayed at this hotel for the races at Chester Race Course. The location is perfect with lots of restaurants nearby and a ten minute walk to the course. The staff on reception were friendly and helpful. The ambience in the bar/restaurant was very nice. The rooms are completely adequate for what we needed. A family room which was clean and comfortable and the bathroom had a bath. I had no issued with cleanliness and I'm pretty fussy. The bathroom was clean. The beds were comfy. The air conditioning was tricky to use and it was red hot when we stayed but we finally sussed out how to work it at 3am so obviously our fault. Although it was on a main road, we did not hear any traffic or noise. The view wasn't nice by you can't have everything. We thought we had booked bed and breakfast but we had booked room only. Again, our fault. The day before we travelled we got an email offering a reduced rate on breakfast and presumed we could add that on when we arrived at the hotel. But you can't. It goes back up to full price and it is pricey for breakfast at the hotel. So if you get the offer beforehand then book it there an then. We went to a Wetherspoons that was nearby and had a great breakfast for £20 per family so it wasn't a problem at all. We had a drink in the bar when we returned in the evening and although pricey, was a lovely end to the day to be able to sit and relax. The bar staff were super friendly too. All in all, a great stay and we would return.

Unacceptable standard for 4 * hotel
I left a very long review in response to an email from them asking for a review, to which I have not had a response. I suggest they look at it and respond to the major concerns expressed. I have never before stayed in a hotel that provided a safe which was not bolted down, or anchored in any way !! With a medium sized case, anyone so minded could have walked out with it. Not much point in putting valuables in it if it can be carried away., as is the case. The buffet arrangement was laughable. About as wide as a passageway .more than six people in there and it was like Piccadilly Circus, dodging around others. Only fruit available was melon. Cooked breafast was ok, apart from cold mushrooms. Bathroom not very good for what was supposedly a superior room. You could not get hands under the tap as the outlet was too close to the edge of the washbasin. The narrowest bath possible !! Goodness knows what the standard rooms are like . Etc etc ….
The only thing going for it is that it is city centre, but there are numerous others.
The lack of a response to my email indicates the level of customer service !!

Disappointing afternoon tea
Booked afternoon tea. I’m sorry to say but it wasn’t the best experience. I asked if the sandwiches could not come with horseradish or pickle. I was told they are already made so no. Then it was a further 15 minutes before they arrived. The sandwiches with relish were left. Coffee was lukewarm warm. A very pleasant gentleman offered to replace them stating we often get complaints about the coffee being cold. The replacements arrived but unfortunately once again Luke warm. These were left.
The hotel lobby & restaurant was lovely. However I’m sad to say the afternoon tea was very disappointing.

The hotel was a good location for shopping. Breakfast was a little disappointing but this is most likely as this is a smaller hotel than we are used to. The food was warm but not hot, and I had to report a dead fly in the orange juice dispenser. This was dealt with quickly so staff were efficient. The room was clean and comfortable. The bathroom was very clean which is always something that I look for in a hotel, in fact it was probably the cleanest bathroom I have ever had.

Great location, would recommend.
The staff are all very friendly and professional, I'm guessing there's a shortage of reliable staff because in the 3 days that we were there, it was the same staff that were working both in the morning for breakfast and in the evening at the bar, I can imagine how exhausted the staff must be, so credit to them for remaining in good spirits.
The entire hotel is spotless and very comfortable.
The bed was extremely comfortable.
Breakfast was good, coffee is excellent.
I'd definitely stay again and have already recommended to friends.
