Lovely place
We stayed here in February for my birthday for a couple of nights. Absolutely lovely B&B, very quiet at night, even with the window open. Room was a really good size and was nice and clean. Breakfast was delicious. Nice big car park which was good. Would definitely stay again.

For me Unclassifiable
In my opinion there is nothing that matches what is written on the various sites;
I personally did not find an ideal destination nor a lovely hotel.
It is a 10-minute walk from the station, 20 from the Cathedral and, to reach the city center you have to walk for half an hour along a monotonous provincial road.
The hotel has a beautiful structure of the last century left today painfully decay and one senses that it has certainly known better times and cures.
An additional £5 is charged on arrival, inexplicably as the booking includes taxes and fees, WiFi is free and the charge for the room was made days in advance to your credit card.
The room is small and depressing, the carpet old and criticizable, the French bed boarded and the mattress uncomfortable; even when it is closed, from the window overlooking the street comes the traffic noise and even the first morning lights because the curtains are not blackout.
In the cramped bathroom everything is missing, there are no countertops or towel rails, the floor is sticky, the edges around the taps and shower are black... the cleanliness is latita.
I don't understand how they can offer to "arrange decorations in the room and other extras like bottles of prosecco to celebrate a special occasion"...In this room ?!!? De gustobus.
Dust and unidentified stains, dirty and sticky floors in the two breakfast rooms that also proves to be of poor quality and variety; completes the situation a single white yogurt expired a week ago, expired like the hotel.

Lovely hotel!
We stayed at the Bawn Lodge as we were both on nights out in Chester and it’s very conveniently located 5 minutes from the city centre.
We stayed in Room 5 - it was clean, a great size for a couple with a lovely en-suite, big shower and all the amenities you’d expect such as a fridge, hairdryer etc. A great selection of hot drinks too. Sarah checked us in, showed us to our room and explained everything we needed to know. She was friendly, knowledgeable and nothing was too much trouble!
The bar area has a brilliant atmosphere on a Saturday night, served quickly considering it was bustling. The bar staff are friendly and efficient too. The outdoor area is brilliant even in cold weather with big heaters, plenty of seating and covered by large umbrellas.
Breakfast the next morning was lovely. A great selection with hot drinks, pastries, yoghurt and juices all available to self serve. Hayley took our hot food order - she was fast, efficient and friendly. The breakfast was lovely - great portion sizes, proper sausages and the perfect dippy egg!
We would 100% stay here again based on it’s proximity to town, Hoole as an area and the hotel itself.

First stay out the Bawn Lodge, but not our last
We travelled up from Essex and booked to stay at Bawn Lodge on 9th November as we were attending a funeral the next day. We were welcomed by Hayley on our arrival and she showed us to our room which was clean and comfortable and quiet dispute being on the main road. Both my husband and I had a really good nights sleep.
The bar area is very comfortable and served a good range of beers and food at excellent prices.
Our breakfast, which was included in the very reasonable booking fee, was cooked fresh to order and was lovely, we especially enjoyed the delicious sausages.
The funeral wake was held at the Bawn and the food that was served was plentiful and very nice and beautifully presented, with crisps and nibbles on each table.
We asked if we would be able to keep our room so that we could freshen up and change before the funeral and Hayley was very happy to allow us to do that. A gesture that we very much appreciated.
This was our first visit to the Bawn Lodge but we will definitely stay here again.
Thank you to all the staff that made our stay so pleasant despite the sad circumstances.

A Hidden Gem!
I went to the Bawn Lodge as part of a group meeting up for a weekend away. We booked direct with the hotel which was done easily and a great price given the location, parking and the onsite bar and restaurant. Arrived early for check in but the lady on reception advised our rooms were ready early so we could check in and not worry about luggage. Room was well equipped with towels, hairdryer, tea and coffee making facilities etc. We had lunch at the Bawn Lodge and wow! The steak topped fries (which I ordered on recommendation from the staff) was amazing! Service from the staff was fantastic and gave us several recommendations on what to do during our trip to Chester, including recommending other local restaurants. We went for a walk into the city centre and walked the city walls as recommended! The city is lovely. We headed back to freshen up for dinner, seeing the meals heading out the kitchen and after a fantastic lunch, we had dinner there too! The salmon fillet was delicious, food and drinks reasonably priced! The breakfast next morning had a great variety of options and the cooked breakfast set us up for another day of walking! This place is a hidden gem! The owners Sarah and Hayley have a great attention to detail and advised they have started refurb works around the venue after having taken over the business not so long ago! I have already booked to go back with family!
