Fantastic food great staff 5***

What a fantastic pub. I went for Sunday lunch with family and it was a definite 5/5. Super friendly and attentive staff. The roast itself was a feast and all cooked to perfection. I will definitely be going back and would highly recommend to anyone looking for a great pub in the area. Thanks for a great experience.

Don’t recommend

I went into The Black Bull Inn in Balsham expecting nothing more than a nice meal, but unfortunately, I left extremely disappointed and angry about the experience.
Firstly, our food took over an hour to arrive, which is completely unacceptable, especially when you are paying for a meal in a pub. The wait was frustrating enough, but what made the experience even worse was the way I witnessed other customers being treated.
While eating I looked over at the bar, I noticed a young couple with a baby. They appeared to be friendly and were chatting and joking with the staff. However, there were two girls sitting with a woman who were openly flirting with both of the men. Meanwhile, one of the men’s girlfriends was standing to the side with a baby in a pram, looking visibly upset and uncomfortable. Watching this unfold was incredibly awkward, and I found the whole situation extremely disrespectful and inappropriate.
On top of that, I witnessed one of the girls at the bar, who appeared to be underage, order an alcoholic drink. The woman with her seemed to indicate that this was fine. I cannot say for certain whether the drink was actually served to her, but if she was underage, allowing that situation to happen in the first place is extremely concerning and irresponsible.
Overall, the atmosphere and customer service left a lot to be desired. Between waiting over an hour for our food and witnessing behaviour that I found extremely uncomfortable and disrespectful, this was by far one of the worst pub experiences I have had.
It is safe to say I will not be returning to The Black Bull Inn, and I certainly would not recommend it based on my experience.

A PERFECT SUNDAY LUNCH ON THE TERRACE.

Having looked at the menu on line and, knowing the reputation of Rob, the chef, we booked for Sunday lunch with some friends visiting from Amsterdam. The service was exceptional from beginning to end. The menu was interesting and offered a wide range. We chose the smoked halibut and the cantaloupe melon with goat's curd followed by grilled tuna, roast lamb, Black Bull burger and cauliflower steak. The execution of all the dishes was superb and we all enjoyed the food enormously. The choice of draught beers was great as was the New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc by the glass. We hope to return.

Rooms are spacious and clean with great amenities. The staff are excellent and the bar and restaurant areas are excellent
