A Cut Above
Privately owned, which explains a lot. Just 3 hotels right now but ambitions to expand.
So simple, come down the M32 and turn straight into Cabot Circus Car Park. The only hotel in Bristol which pays for your parking. And attractive room rates.
A few negatives : bedside lights work in tandem, so both on or both off.
Whilst comfortable, the mattress is bizarre. Any pressure on any part of it and you feel as though you are in a small boat an a rough sea - everything but everything rocks and rolls.
Oh, and 3 lifts vital, with one out of action response was terribly slow.
But lots of nice touches. Have never stayed in a hotel with a diagram showing you how both controls for the shower works.
Blissfully quiet despite being on the main dual carriageway into Bristol.
Excelleny buffet breakfast in the well lit basement. Good value and great service.
Restaurant recommended and attracts lots of walk in clients.
We dined on arrival at Pizza Express (see review) in Cabot Circus Mall. Sadly only respectable restaurant there, all the others fall into the, "junk food" category.
Brilliant service from Miguel behind the Bar and Sultan)?) on Reception.
We may try Cardiff branch next.

The location is really good, right in the centre of Bristol, and the free parking is a big bonus. The staff were friendly enough and I had no issues with them.
The room was a decent size and the bed was nice and big, although the mattress was a bit saggy around the edges. My room also had a frosted-glass window, so there was some natural light but no actual view outside.
There were a couple of cleanliness issues too. The bed had a runner/throw across the bottom, where you’d put your feet, and this had a noticeable stain on it. The shower also had some staining around the grout between the tiles and on the shower screen.
The decor felt quite dated, with a real late-90s/early-2000s feel, so I was surprised to find out the hotel opened in 2009. The sockets also looked a bit scruffy, with darker outlines around some of the white surrounds, almost like larger faceplates had previously been fitted. One socket was also noticeably wonky, which was a small thing but annoying once I noticed it.
It wasn’t a bad stay, and the location and free parking are definitely positives. However, I think the rooms could do with some TLC, particularly around cleanliness, maintenance and updating the decor.
3/5 from me. Nothing terrible, but also not somewhere I’d describe as really good or excellent without a few improvements.

Hotel was fine, shame about the druggies.
The negative was the druggies congregating in the pedestrian area to the rear of the hotel at 4.30am, taking drugs & playing ridiculously loud music.

The hotel is outside the ‘old city’ on some main roads, we were concerned about noise, but traffic did not disturb us at any point on our four day stay. It was about a 20-minute walk to the Cathedral.
The room was a good size, functional but clean and spacious with plenty of storage.
The staff were all excellent; friendly and helpful.
The breakfast, that we had pre-booked, was substantial and varied, with freshly cooked options like poached eggs, omelettes and porridge. It was a meal that kept us going for pretty much the whole day.

It is across from a large shopping centre with a variety of fast food outlets.
