Very clean but a little outdated in areas.

I stayed here 2 nights as I was attending a festival round the corner at the Victoria Hotel.
Breakfast was delicious. Staff very accommodating
Rooms were basic but comfortable.
I was a little anxious about using a shared bathroom as I don't like leaving my room in the night but it was fine. Only criticisms I would have is there isn't enough light to walk to the shared bathroom.
Very old building hence very creaky floors.
Clean and tidy but a little dated in terms of decor.
Plenty of parking but very tight getting round the buildings so care needed.
No smoking area at the back ( night entrance) but not too far from front smoking area.
Also I asked for a late door key being at an event and knowing I wouldn't be back til after 11pm which was a great idea however the first night the catch was on the lock so wasn't locked and the second night, there was no lock on the back door at all........ made me a little nervous about intruders.
Rooms could maybe benefit from a fan as even with windows open, rooms were very warm.
Creaky but comfy bed and plenty of pillows.
All in all, a pleasant experience and I would recommend Hylands Hotel to visitors and I would stay again

WE WERE RIPPED OFF!

Booked a 2 night stay at this Hotel, arrived around 2pm for check-in which was straight forward, reception showed us to a room which wasn’t located in the ‘Main Hotel’, a building located completely separate which was behind it, we were reassured by reception that our path would be ‘well lit’ if returning to our room after dark, room was VERY dated, disappointed that there was no bath, beds VERY uncomfortable, bathroom was a JOKE! staff were fairly/sort of friendly, did feel that they were overly nice to us though, was told on 2nd day by a staff member that the Hotel will be closing around Christmas 2024, I can see and understand WHY! please don’t stay here, we paid £180 for 2 nights, not worth the money.

Needs a lot of money spending

I had organised to drop my bag as I'm working late, after ringing the bell twice in reception some one finally came and said that reception is closed at 10.30pm so glad I did. I was shown outside to the 2 sold property. And shown roughly when room was as I needed to get to work.
Came back after work, thought I'd get a drink at the bar, rang the bell a couple of times no answer but did see on the main door that it's locked at 11pm
Luckily I have a understanding boss and just in case I left work at 10pm to make sure I made the curfew
Needs so much money spending on the place, so outdated and don't know what makes it a hotel more like an out dated guest house.

Great value

Large warm comfortable room with plenty of space to move around and spotlessly clean. The decor may be a bit dated but the room was one of the most comfortable I've stayed at and coupled with a good breakfast I can safely say this was excellent value for money.
Ample parking at the rear and ideally situated for public transport I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this to any traveller.

AVOID. Total rip off.

Despite two phone calls to enquire, following an ankle fracture, this hotel is most definitely NOT ACCESSIBLE for those with limited mobility.
A traumatic stay for one night, trapped in a "ground floor" room after painfully navigating many steps and indifferent staff.
Breakfast was in a separate accessible only by several steps. No ramps. No lifts. No care.
Only suitable for able bodied guests. I would never stay here again, despite my injury being healed and my mobility has returned.
This hotel blatantly lie and operate outside of the law when it comes to the Disability Discrimination Act.
