Beautiful landscape

The hotel and pension are located in a beautiful area - if you are in love with the nature, a piece of past brought to current times. The castle Seeberg is just next to it and it is a nice place to visit! The location is Frantiskovy Lazne so, for location, no comments to add than: excellent! We had there breakfast and dinner and we were nicely impressed by the food but also by the personnel.

Quirky little hotel in gorgeous countryside

One of the loveliest hotels I've ever stayed in, surrounded by snowy countryside. The view from our room's little balcony was beautiful, we even saw some deer frolicking in the snow. Our room was very sumptuous with a big two person bath. The mini-bar prices were very reasonable, and the breakfast was an excellent introduction into Czech cuisine (although the music choice was a bit odd- Rammstein anyone?).
When I say "introduction" I mean introduction. We were told there was a restaurant across the way from the (very remote) hotel, and so by 7:45 we were starting to feel a bit peckish and wandered over. It was all locked up, lights out, everything. When we got back to the hotel the owner seemed perplexed that we wanted food and said all she had to offer us was garlic soup or a cold meat platter. It was about -15 outside so we were hoping for something a little more warming. We drove the half hour into Cheb and found it was the same story there: 8:15pm and all the restaurants were closed! We wandered into a trendy little cafe with a great menu outside, but the waitress informed us their kitchen was closed. SO WEIRD. We ended up in a late night pizza takeaway, which was actually really good. But strange as it wasn't even gone 9.
Anyway, if you're visiting I guess my advice to you would be eat early.

OK stay with pros and contras

Visited as a family with 3 kids for a week. Stayed in pension, located opposite of the same name hotel.
The best on Seeberg is the location itself, close to German border, numerous bike paths on Czech and Bavaria sides and near-by spa towns.
There is sufficient parking in front of both buildings, or at near-by castle. We also enjoyed separate storage room, where bikes are locked and maintained playground for small kids in front of pension.
Accommodation – rooms are simple equipped, sleeping mattresses below average, bathroom a bit poor, showers with just plastic curtains, in some rooms even without a shower basin, so you stand on regular bathroom floor while taking the shower…
Rooms have small flat TV with local and German channels. Cleanliness is ok. You also clearly hear every noise (normal talking, bathroom, TV) from next-by rooms, even if people do no talk loud. Ideal for the spies….
Food – breakfast being served as a buffet in hotel building and was positive surprise. Sufficient selection and good quality food. Dinner is just for hotel guests which was not our case. We have been told to use restaurant in pension, which we tried only once. Prices quite high (probably because of plenty quests from Germany), food quality below average, portions rather small, kids portions ‘microscopic’ not sufficient even for our 3 years old daughter…..
Staff - willing and very polite in hotel reception, not much caring in pension restaurant.

Germanic experience at hotel

We tried to last minute cancel, but were not allowed without vast payment,so turned up. Carpark full of German cars. Brusque welcome; Foyer full of 'seasonal display of false fungi, birch logs, drooping oak leaves and little animals. Large rubber trees filled central stairwell, and hung with outline apples, and kites (its the season(?)) Large open landing with pleasant furniture and tables (and kites) Rooms large with 90cmx2 double bed, sofa, table, tv. (no kites) Only one bedside light. Vast corner bath but no soap or shower gel/shampoo provided (fixed liquid soap at basin). Sloping roof meant to stand using the hand shower one had to crouch or kneel in bath and no place to rest the shower head during use. Plug to basin found after a search in the cupboard beneath. Hairdryer. Surrounded by trees so what might be a good view was not. very isolated and a four mile trip to alternative eating; we tried the castle but no one came when we went in and looked around!!
Restaurant of hotel side appeared closed by 8pm so went to Pension ''Oompah bar ''where there was a group night in one room. No too loud at least. Staff unhelpful when spoken to in English but responded to an approach in Czech. Large portions of whatever.
Breakfast good variety but no welcome; staff preferring to stay at a distance.
Good place if you can speak German and enjoy that style of hotel with lots of trinkets.
