Great place to stay just ten minutes walk from the city centre. Comfortable, warm, safe rooms. Hearty breakfast. Welcoming staff.

Major disappointment – the room did not match the booking, the heating did not work, and there was no hot water

We booked an “Exclusive Double Room” for one night through Expedia, for 2 people, explicitly listed in the description as having “1 Double Bed.” The room description also listed “heating” as one of the amenities. Based on the photos, it was supposed to be one of the stylish rooms with a double bed, a distinctive atmosphere, and vintage furnishings.
In reality, we were given a completely different room: a sterile-looking triple room with plain white walls, no decorations or character whatsoever, and three separate single beds. Two of the beds were simply pushed together, with a visible gap between the mattresses (so, not a double bed), and there was a third bed in the room as well. Just like on the pushed-together beds, there was also a towel and toiletries placed on the third bed, as if the room had actually been prepared for three people. This does not match the description “1 Double Bed” or the photos presented during booking. Instead of a stylish “exclusive double room,” we got what felt more like a basic triple/family room.
Another problem came up in the evening. The room was cold and the radiators were not heating at all. There was no heating control in the room; it appeared to be a central heating system. When we called the hotel contact number, we were told that “nothing could be done” about the heating. We were not offered a portable heater or even extra blankets.
After a long hike, we wanted to take a shower, but after only a few minutes the hot water stopped running. Over the phone, we were told that the room supposedly had its own boiler. The lady asked us in a rather unpleasant way whether we had perhaps already taken a shower in the afternoon after check-in, because otherwise she did not understand why there would be no hot water. We had not showered in the afternoon. And even if we had, we returned to the room only around 11 PM, so one would expect the boiler to have heated up again by then.
Check-in was available from 3 PM, so we arrived right at 3 PM. There was nobody at reception, even though according to the posted hours it was supposed to be open from 3 PM. I did not see that as a problem at first, because there was a phone number on the door to call in case nobody was present. When I called, the lady told me over the phone that she had tried to contact us through Expedia, but that it allegedly did not work, and that the phone number in the booking was not our actual phone number but some meaningless string of digits. However, my Expedia account has my correct phone number and email address listed. In the end, we accessed the room only because she gave us the code to the key lockbox over the phone.
As if that were not enough, during check-out I asked the lady why our room looked the way it did, meaning why it did not match the booking in terms of appearance/interior or the stated bed type. She brushed us off by saying that “this happens sometimes, that’s normal.”
I would also like to point out one more thing: on booking platforms such as Expedia, the hotel promotes the stylish design of the entire property, including the bar. To be fair, when you enter the hotel, the interior is fairly original and interesting. However, only once we were there, not during booking, did we learn that the stylish bar is open only by prior arrangement and can be used for birthday parties, bachelor/bachelorette parties, and similar events. Otherwise, it is apparently closed, and you simply cannot go there in the evening for a few drinks. I find that at the very least quite misleading.
Overall, the room and the service did not match what was presented during booking. The biggest issue was not just the appearance of the room, but above all the mismatch in bed type, the non-functioning heating, the lack of hot water, and the attitude of the hotel staff. For us, this was a very poor experience.
