A Great Place to Stay in Pardubice
My room (302) was quite spacious and comfortable.
The hotel is on a quiet street, just across the river from the city's historical centre.
All of the desk staff I dealt with were pleasant, professional and spoke very good English. The lobby is spacious, with several comfortable sofas and armchairs to sit in.
Breakfast was typical continental buffet style and was tasty and well prepared.
One important thing to note, if you have mobility issues, is that the hotel lift only goes as far as the second floor. higher floors can only be accessed by stairs. As such, you should specify a first or second floor room when you make your reservation if you will require the lift.
There really was nothing to complain about with this hotel and I'd happily stay there again.

Outdated time
We visited for an overnight stay. We arranged the accommodation easily over the phone, everything was fine at the reception, I must say that the cleanliness was also OK, but the outdated times, not much is invested in the hotel. I already knew at the reception that it wouldn't be quite right when I heard the creaking old chair on which the receptionist is sitting. After opening the room, it was a shock... even though there is not only a room number by the door, but a box with keys and an escape exit sign. I don't know how it could be an escape exit when the bed, which creaks every time you turn, is placed in the room in such a way that even my wife (slim figure) and I could not walk slowly. Bathroom - tin tub, it was noisy. You cannot sit on the toilet because it is located a few cm from the wall. I can't imagine older or stronger people staying here. Breakfast - crowded room, everything selected and it was 8 o'clock (breakfast from 7:30) - sausages, scrambled eggs, mixed vegetable salad, homemade cake, juice, coffee, tea, fruit. I think the hotel would need some investment.

Adequate for three nights but don't park your car under the tree in the car park
We stayed at the Golden Pike for three nights earlier this month. At the time of our stay, there was a major horse race in Pardubice and many of the hotels were full. We were lucky to be able to get accommodation.
So, what's it like? It is certainly of its time. The building dates from before the turn of the 20th century and the downstairs rooms have very high ceilings and are of the decor that was contemporary at that period. The downstairs cannot be described as cozy.
Our room was near the top of the building and access was via a glass walled lift. We rather liked this feature. The room itself ponged a bit where some previous visitor had smoked in it. This being despite the fact it is a non-smoking hotel. It was furnished to a basic standard and we would have liked to have had two chairs to sit on instead of just one. A safe would also have been nice. Okay but not outstanding.
The hotel is quite central and it benefits from a adequately sized car park. I parked my car reversed against a wall, beneath the branches of a tree. Big mistake. When I returned to the car three days later, it was covered in tree gunge and guamo. Be careful where you park your car unless you want to spend time in a car wash.
The hotel dining is a huge cavernous space and there was a large noisy group in there on the first night. We went out to eat at a nearby restaurant called Anh Dung Asia. Any restaurant that has dung in it's name has to be worth investigating! The second night we ate in the hotel restaurant and although it lacked any sort of ambience, the food was excellent and service top notch. Breakfasts were also served in the same room and were quite adequate.
The hotel bar is in the form of a pub which is adjacent. We had originally not thought it was part of the hotel and it seemed very popular with the locals.
In terms of location, the hotel is at one end of the main drag through the town. It is around 30 minutes walk to the station and the walk takes you through the older part of the town including the old town square.
We probably won't be going back to Pardubice any time soon, which is more the pity. Those who are contemplating a visit to Prague might wish to consider Pardubice as an alternative place to stay. There are excellent and incredibly cheap (less than £5 for the two of us return) rail services. Pardubice is far less commercialised and touristy yet it is around an hour by train from the capital.
Would we stay there again? Most definitely.

Never ever
Really old purely maintained rooms.
They say they have free Wi-Fi but to download email with 14 MB data included I spent 2 hours. Breakfast is nothing special, orange juice mixed with a lot of water. Looks like to they’re trying to save money.

Not Bad, really, it’s Not Bad
I’m finishing a three week stay, and I don’t mind saying that there are some great attributes that come with old hotels like this. WiFi is reasonable, breakfast is outstanding, there’s no AC, my room was tiny but I’m not traveling with family.
The mattress leaves a bit to be desired but we’re not talking about the InterContinental in Prague. Yes, there is that distinct smell of time and moisture that is compulsory... but the cool thing is that the staff is friendly, professional, and very helpful. I can think of a few other venues in Pardubice that I wouldn’t do a long term stay at...
