practical

the hotel is located close to the airport so is very conveniant for the night nioght before the early flight. we left early in the morning so missed the berakfast Be carefull abourt the time of checking rules. As well note there is not the lift available so we carried all our luggages ( for a month trip in New zealand) to the third floor)

Only if you are desperate...

Typical cheap ubytovna of a low level. No hotel services are provided whatsoever, even changing the sheets is for money. "Breakfast included" is a lie, for 4 months here it didn't work even one day.
Paying in cash only.
Silly blondes (who don't speak English) at the reception never know anything and nobody cares if wifi doesn't work in the entire hotel for over 5 days or if they have štěnice in mattresses.
What upset me the most is that they block your card (which you use to enter the room) early in the morning on the day you are supposed to pay, so basically it's the same if they just threw you out of the room at 8 am because you haven't paid for the next night yet.
The location is not best, no normal shops or farmacies or basically anything in the area, you have to take the bus to metro even if you need to buy paralen.
The furniture is old and very simple, not a " 3* hotel" level for sure.
The sheets they give you for 70 crowns are also old, half ripped and ugly.
There is one kitchen for the 3 or 4 buildings of the hotel and cooking in the room is "strictly forbidden and punishable". Walking 3 floors down, next 20 meters to the other building and then through the entire corridor to check on your food is not fun. The elevator doesn't work btw.
Very unsatisfactory, the only plus or reason to stay here is the price for a month.

Never again

The drop-down menu won't let me choose the correct year of my stay. However, I stayed at Hotel Chotol for approximately 10 months in 2011 for work-related reasons.
The first impression was not that bad - my double room was just about big enough for one person, I didn't need more space. Although everything smelled a bit stale, the bathroom looked like it had been renovated recently, and also the fridge and wardrobes seemed clean. (Later, I spoke to a girl living next door who told me that her fridge was completely mouldy when she came there.) I just assumed nobody had been accommodated in my room for some time. I cleaned the room and bathroom myself, but that wasn't a problem, I knew that room service was not offered for long-term guests.
My bed wasn't particularly comfortable, but not a disaster either. What bothered me more were airplanes flying very low over the hotel, which is actually situated more or less in the axis of the runway.
I can't say anything about food - none was provided, apart from a few sweet & savoury snacks available at the reception.
The staff was quite ok. It was actually the hotel manager and his relatives if I remember correctly. Later, a gypsy family took over. They were kind and willing; however, that's not all you need from a hotel manager as we all found out later.
Real problems started when the heating and hot water were turned off. Several power outages occurred as well. This took a few weeks, maybe over a month. Apparently, the manager hadn't been paying the bills, and the guests faced the consequences.
I left the hotel soon and was expecting to get back my deposit as promised at the beginning of the stay. I haven't seen my money till this day.

Disappointed

Not a hotel as advertised, but a hostel. We have booked months ahead, asking for aground floor due to my wife's disability, but were put in a room on top floor. There was no regular cleanup of our room, no tv, no telephone, towels were only offered to refresh on last night there. (Stayed 5 nights). Room itself was run down, shoe scuff marks on walls. Website advertised breakfast, but the restaurant was closed due to "technical problems". A total disappointment-would not recommend and will not visit again.

Katka - the worst waitress in the world

We stayed at the Chotol Hotel for 2 nights whilst we visited Prague on our way to East Bavaria. Although I had let them know it would be 11 pm when we were due to arrive, the hotel was locked and appeared deserted when we did. A general notice on the door tells you to ring an external telephone number if you wish to enter after 9pm, but it is not always answered immediately, and we were left on the steps of the hotel with 2 little children, wondering what we should do. Eventually I made contact, but we had to wait about another 20 minutes for someone to come (by car) to let us in. The hotel itself is fine, and the main Reception staff next day were lovely - but the woman who serves breakfast in the restaurant - called Katka - was terrible, and seemed to think she was running some kind of Young Offenders' Institute. We arrived for breakfast the first morning about 09.30 am [breakfast is listed as 8 am to 10 am] as we'd had a very late night due to the delays getting into the hotel), and there were only a very few items left to eat on the serving table. I asked for some replacement items via Reception staff as there appeared to be no-one around. At 09.55 the requested items had still not arrived, but when I knocked on the kitchen door and asked again, a woman called Katka ( I later asked her name as her service was so appalling and disgraceful) sternly snapped at me "I have already told you, I have to prepare them!" (I wondered - but did not ask - luke warm hot dog sausages, how long does that take?). She then reluctantly brought them in but barked "breakfast finishes at 10 o'clock!". And she meant it! She stood at the side of our table pointing to her watch and reminding us every few seconds that we must leave. We were not even allowed to take a few slices of bread and cheese with us to our room. The children just could not eat fast enough for her, and with her breathing down their necks. As we were pushed out of the restaurant, she dramatically locked the restaurant door right behind us. The next day we saw another couple given the same treatment and given almost no choice of food, and when they reminded her that they were on holiday and guests of the hotel, Katka shouted at them "If this were a supermarket which closed at 10 am the doors would be locked at 10 am!" pointing to her watch. The guests quite correctly retorted that this was NOT a supermarket but a hotel which should make its guests feel welcome and comfortable. No wonder the place was nearly deserted - even though it was high season! Katka needs to remember that without guests, she will have NO JOB. The guests are not naughty pupils intent on breaking the law; they are paying customers who wish to enjoy a pleasant holiday and feel welcome. People do not wish to feel as if they are participants in a military training (boot) camp. This woman is a DISGRACE to hospitality, and should be SACKED immediately! It's a shame, because the hotel could flourish without her. Alternatively, if she continues to work there, the Reviews will be bad and prospective customers will be lost; and no-one will ever want to stay there; and certainly no-one will ever want to return. It's sad for the Reception staff who were helpful.
