Les 5 chambres de l'hébergement vous invitent à la détente et comprennent un minibar. L'accès Wi-Fi à Internet gratuit vous permet de rester en contact avec le reste du monde. Les salles de bain comprennent une douche, des articles de toilette gratuits et un sèche-cheveux. Les équipements et services offerts par l'hébergement comprennent de l'eau minérale (offerte) et des rideaux occultants. Le service d'entretien est assuré tous les jours.

It was all about the horses -
We stayed in Apartment 6, which was a beautifully appointed room. King-sized bed with mesh netting, sofa, kitchenette (could someone please write up instructions on how to use the stove? It is not intuitive to the average human) and little fridge. The views were beautiful, and it was just a lovely property. All the staff were great, and the owners are always around, greeting guests and making interesting chat. And they offer laundry service - what a treat!
The restaurant on site provides breakfast and dinner with the riding packages. The breakfasts were the same every day, buffet with scrambled eggs, meat, cheeses, and the only complaint is that it was the same every day. But you won't go hungry, that's for certain. Dinner is provided at the restaurant each evening (again, this is for those who have the riding package). You don't choose off the menu - that part was a little confusing until you got the hang of it. A meal is just ... provided. There was always an appetizer, main course, and dessert. Everything was good, and again, no one goes hungry. (OK - we weren't keen on the seafood surprise.) There's a full bar service, too. The food is all fresh and beautifully presented. The atmosphere is very relaxed.
There is a little grocery/sundry store easily walkable from the lodge, that although small, sure had a lot packed into it. I suspect if you forgot it, you'll find it in some nook or cranny in this store. Note that they do not take credit cards from anywhere other than Portugal, so have cash on hand.
We were there in May and had clear, cool weather. There are large windows in the rooms that open to provide a serious breeze. But since the facility does not provide A/C in the summer months, I do wonder if it gets a bit warm and humid.
Did I mention the horses? You'll have a great time!

Riding stable
The small room on the 1st floor is only accessible via a steep staircase. It was located directly above a canopy of the open guest area below. Since there were no other outdoor seats available, groups (equestrian sports) remained sitting downstairs to chat even after eating in the evening.
We therefore had to close the window in order to be able to sleep.
The hotel is very secluded and actually an accommodation for fans of equestrian sports.

Faial island horseback adventure
Upon on arrival at the Faial airport, we were met promptly by a staff member and driven to the lodge. The lodge is multi-building compound on the outskirts of a small village (5-minute walk) in rural setting replete with cow pastures and lovely ocean views. We stayed in one of their apartments and found it to be perfect for our needs. It was clean, comfortable, quiet, in excellent condition and had a marvelous ocean view from the balcony. There was small refrigerator with a little freezer, an induction cook-top and the appropriate pots, pans and utensils. Our room was cleaned daily.
There was a small restaurant that served the same buffet breakfast each morning with cold foods and scrambled eggs and bacon. Dinners were served in the same restaurant and were quite good (some excellent). As part of a package, the dinner menu was set, and we did not order from the menu. The bar service was nice with draft beer and a wine selection (drinks for purchase). Additionally, there was a small indoor pool, and spa services were available. My wife had a massage and was hoping for deep tissue. She had the Zen massage and found it a bit too "Zen."
The reason we came to the Ecolodge was for the horseback riding, and we were not disappointed. The horses and riding staff are provided by another company that is essentially on the property and works closely with the Ecolodge. We learned the "horse portion" was previously owned by the Ecolodge owner but now is its own business (same with the restaurant). They brought the horses to the lodge on several of the mornings. We would meet at 9 AM to groom and tack the horses. After a ride, we also cared for the horses. On a few days, the horses spent nights in different pastures on different parts of the island, and we were driven back and forth to the horses. This was to accommodate our rides on other sides of the island. The Lusitano horses were fun to ride and were very well-cared for by the staff. The guides were flexible, interested, safety-conscious and full of local information about the island and its history. The rides were a mix of walk, trot, canter and gallop. We found them exhilarating and greatly enjoyed the riding portion of our stay. We were the only riders for the first 2 days but were joined by 2 other experienced riders from Germany who were an enjoyable addition to our adventure. The average riding day was 4-5 hours with time off for a sack lunch of a sandwich, fruit, juice box and a candy bar. There was one longer day when we rode over the top of the caldera. There was one short day that we opted to skip and lounged around for a nice rest day. Again, the staff was very flexible and accommodating to our wishes.
In conclusion, we gave the Ecolodge and the Faial island trail trip 5 stars for the overall experience. No, it was not the 5-star experience you would find in a big city hotel with super plush accommodations and top tier gourmet dining. However, for people who love to ride and appreciate staff who are there to make sure that you have a great holiday, this was certainly a "5-star" experience, and we would highly recommend it.

Escapadinha to Faial
The care of Cristina in the care of the reservation, and at the time of check-in is something to highlight.
Welcome by Mrs. Fatima during breakfast, which by the way is very good.
I also emphasize the tranquility of the space.
