Amazing place
For a long time, my wife and I were looking for some quiet place for a picnic. The facility is located in a beautiful natural scenery. Service at a really high level, + tasty food. As part of the package, we had an off-road trip through the surrounding meadows and a guided tour of the Wolf's Lair. We recommend the most demanding people looking for peace and quiet

The worst trip of our live !!!
We booked this place to spend Christmas and New Year’s away from fireworks — our dog has sound phobia, and we were hoping for peaceful countryside magic. What we got instead was a live demonstration of how fragile hospitality becomes when it relies on marketing videos instead of basic logistics.
We found the hotel online, marketed as a 4-star establishment with regional cuisine, homemade pastries, a pool, sauna, and all the “slow life luxury” trimmings. It looked dreamy — the kind of rustic elegance where you imagine fresh fish, local spirits, and quiet winter mornings. Reality had other plans.
Upon booking we were told “cash preferred, no card terminal.” That was our first omen. Still, we paid the full amount in cash at check-in — without any receipt. Bold, but okay.
The location was gorgeous and peaceful. Then we opened the door to our room. It was colder inside than outside. No heating, no hot water for the first 24 hours, and we were given a portable heater that became the unofficial mascot of our stay. After reporting the problem, we were told another furnace circuit was “fired up.” Masurian HVAC innovation at its finest.
Cleanliness was… theoretical. Dirt on the floor, no cleaning tools, no mop, no broom. Our dog brought more nature indoors than the entire promotional video. We eventually borrowed cleaning equipment from the kitchen — which later turned out to be the most educational room in the building.
Breakfast was minimalist to the point of performance art: bread, butter, packaged cold cuts, mozzarella with tomato, and occasionally a cucumber. The coffee machine had a personality disorder — guests attempted to use it with the same energy one approaches bomb defusal.
The entire operation ran with two staff members: one woman doing everything (cooking, serving, housekeeping, probably crisis management), and one manager overseeing the chaos. The property was fully booked, making it a fascinating case study in unrealistic optimism.
Meals remained unpredictable. Soup at 2 PM, dinner sometime between 6–7 PM, depending on divine intervention. Overcooked pasta, broccoli-cheese sauce, and mashed potatoes that somehow managed to be both solid and sad. We ended up making regular pilgrimages to the local supermarket for supplementary food.
Christmas Eve dinner — likely catered — was surprisingly good. The illusion collapsed the following morning when breakfast consisted of absolutely nothing. The multi-role staff member was asleep in the lounge, Christmas Eve tables remained untouched, and hygiene took the holiday off.
From the dining room one could glimpse the kitchen. Imagine “Kitchen Nightmares,” but only the before section, on a continuous loop. No kitchen attire, no visible hygiene standards — just a high-intensity simulation of culinary survival.
The advertised “regional cuisine” never appeared. Masuria is famous for fish, game, cheeses, honey. We got supermarket cold cuts, yellow cheese, and potatoes suffering from identity crisis.
On December 30th, we gave up — for sanitary and nutritional reasons. Upon leaving, we requested a refund for the unused days. We were told it would be “handled by email.” The room was reportedly rented out again within hours.
Two weeks of excuses followed, including “waiting for the board” and “the hotel was flooded” — which sounded more symbolic than literal. Final answer: refund denied, regulations invoked.
This experience left us with serious questions:
— Is this establishment legally a hotel?
— Do employees hold sanitary permits?
— Does any form of health inspection exist in this narrative?
What we saw cannot be unseen. And while the countryside was indeed peaceful — everything else was a masterclass in improvisation.
Would we return?
Only if invited to observe a sociological experiment about hospitality management under unrealistic constraints.
Would we recommend?
Not to humans. Possibly to anthropologists.

Far below expectations
The standard is below 3 stars, not declared 4. The room was dirty, the common areas were dirty, the restaurant was dirty, the swimming pool wasn't... because it was out of service. There was no internet, no TV. Please check google reviews before booking, specially these negative, unfortunately we didn't.

I don't recommend this drama
The actual situation and the photos on the website are two different realities, the kitchen is a disaster, worse than in summer camps at 30 degrees outside, the owner turns on the underfloor heating in the rooms, dirt and mold in the shower cabin, the swimming pool may have been closed during my stay due to it being dirty and unprepared. water Below any standard, after getting acquainted with the conditions prevailing in the entire facility, we decided to leave the facility as soon as possible - after long negotiations with Mr. Aleksander, he promised to return the money paid for the stay by Travelist, who distanced himself from the matter completely (I will add that the reservation was made along with the payment (e.g. via the Travelist website), unfortunately more than 3 weeks have passed and the refund has not yet been made despite several assurances from the owner of the facility. I don't recommend it to anyone

Beautiful surrounding, horrible management, avoid!
Do not be fooled by the movie on the website or reassurances from the receptionist over the phone that "everything is as it should be". Martiany 21 is an average guesthouse aspiring to be a luxury place.
Low temperature in the room, even colder in the dining room. We got an electric heater but on the third day of our stay the staff attempted to take it from us (probably it was not us who we were freezing…).
We were offered to move to another room in the other building, where the smell in the bathroom was horrible.
Lots of organizational flaws. We had to ask for everything: no cutlery at breakfast, no bread, no butter, no vegetables. No clear information about when the dinner will be served - it was said between 4 PM and 8 PM, but on the second day it turned out that it was from 6 PM.
To be clear - Martiay 21 area itself and the surrounding nature are simply beautiful. Peace and quiet, lots of green, horses wandering around. Such a charming place, so badly managed :-(
